My daughter named her blue silkie Pippy. Well she handles him/her a lot. She noticed 2 days ago that on one foot Pippy has 4 toes and the other 5!
I really should get a picture.
But does anyone else have a chicken with odd numbered toes?

Silkies are supposed to have 5 toes on each foot. Pippy would make a good pet, but no show or breeding quality. She needs 5 toes on each foot and foot feathering for show and as for breeding, she could pass on the 4 toes genetics. I have had birds with odd toes on each foot, even have had silkies with a 6th toes. Cannot show them either.

Thanks.

6 toes would be interesting.
We are not into breeding or showing so we are good to go on that. We just want eggs and eventually some chicken soup.

My oldest understands the purpose of the chickens but we may just keep the "pets" longer than the others.
