Do I have a picture her of her in sweetheart mode? Just a few

You know how you usually have to chase chickens around the garden, trying to get that good shot? Well Blondie is a bit of a poser and seems to like having her picture taken.

Apologies for side tracking the thread but I guess we are shaming Blondie for being a super sized, cranky broody

Sweetheart mode:



For Comparison:
The head goes down, the rump goes up and all the feathers go sideways .. she walks around the garden like that for days

She gives a good stink eye too:



Broody season is upon us now and to be honest, we are dreading it! lol

Blood will spill .. ours!

Be glad she is such an obsessively dedicated momma. I hope my Marans turns out to be a good brooder.

Blondie is beautiful! It's a good thing to have an aggressive mana. Our cuckoo maran is the best mama. She's protective and a great teacher. Since March, she's hatched 2 batches and I can't wait for her to go broody again. This is in comparison to my EE who chased off her own chicks yesterday, fighting over a piece of lettuce.

Totally agree! However, I found that Blondie’s over protectiveness towards her babies and her raising the alarm and freaking out whenever anyone went near her or them, produced a batch of very neurotic chicks which is why she is not having any more

Yes, it is not good to have a nervous mother, they will teach the chicks to be afraid of everything.

I think she is GORGEOUS!!!!! I am so glad you clarified what breed she is--but sad, I don't think I could add a little girl with my large fowl flock!
