Got our first broody last night and still broody all day today. Finally put her up after dark. The first time it was still a little light out and the deck light was on and she went back to the nest!!! With no eggs!! Second time i turned the light off so I hope she stays and forgets being broody by tomorrow! However if she doesn't I will make sure to get a picture!

She is a nice broody though, let me pick her up and hold her with zero protest. I talked to her. However she did fly off the roof the first time and pace the run, even went back in the coop, all while making soft little protest noises. I tried to explain to her that we don't have a rooster and that no matter how long she sits there they won't hatch but she was not having it and was talking back LOL

I did promise her if she goes broody again in the spring I'll buy her some eggs and let her hatch those LOL

 Her name's Java.

She sounds just like my Dominique

She always gets on the bench to join me while I have my coffee. The first morning she did so is when she earned her name as she unexpectedly snuck a sip. If I don't go out to the bench, she comes tapping at the kitchen door until I open it.  Then she'll stand in the threshold and watch me drink it until it's gone.  Only then will she go back out to forage.  I do have to keep an eye on her because the second I look away she'll have her beak in my cup. Then I have to get a new one.
