No you don't cover them, they will lose their feathers and grow new pretty one's. Are you in Ohio?

Dah I just read it under your name. Are they young birds? They may not molt until next year. Mine started in August and I have a few that are at the end of molt now.
 
my birds are 7 months old, co worker has some two months older n his all just came out of molting, concerned they may get too cold is all if they do molt in DEC or January, yeah newbie n in Ohio, going to national too n picking brains n looking at birds for next yr, have caught poultry bug bad

Is anybody bringing show quality blue/black/splash Ameraucana or blue lace red wyandotte hens. Or Any show quality Birds Preferly bantams and what time is it open to the public? 6am????? 7am????

Keep in mind blue laced red wyandottes are not an accepted color variety yet and therefore hard to qualify what "show quality" in BLRWs truly is
