Ok, so I got your attention. Sorry about that.

Actually the title does pertain to my question, though. I'm *still* trying to decide on a breed (or breeds) for my flock. I'm looking at a few different ones and have changed some of my older choices.

What I'm curious about now is the actual egg productiveness of older hens. I know that the older that they get the less productive they become but I guess if optimum egg production was the only thing I was interested in I'd just buy some white leghorns and be done with it. But "nah"....I need a hen with personality and class....a classy la(y)dy, if you will.

It seems that people who are striving for high production replace their hens at the start of the second molt to keep from feeding them through that molt. So, I guess that what I'm interested in is finding out the productiveness of hens *after* that second molt, when they could be considered "old biddies", er, "old ladies" I meant to say.

So, if you have some "old ladies", and are so inclined to list them here in the "Old Biddies Club", could you kindly state in the first line of your reply the breed, age, name(?), and eggs per week?...adding your BYC username would be great too! If you have multiple "old ladies" feel free to sign them all up (you know if you miss signing up one of the old biddies that you'll never here the end of it from her and imagine the ribbing she'll get from those that do get listed!!!!!). Any extra info below that would be great!

I'll copy your info and paste it at the bottom of this post so the members of the "Old Biddies Club" will all on the membership list. (I'll add the date)

This will help me determine what breed I choose and might help to keep the banties from singing "DING DONG THE WITCH IS DEAD!!!" too often...if you know where I'm coming from.

Breed, name, age, eggs per week, BYC owner username

I've been considering Barred Rocks (and all of the find characteristics of them). I also recently read where someone said that the feed to egg ratio was very good for banties. How big are the eggs from Louise? Do they get as big as "small" size? Thanks for talking Louise in to joining the "Old Biddies Club"!!!

Buff orps were my first choice and are still at the top of the list! WOW!!!...six extra large eggs at 3 1/2 years old....feed conversion ratiomasho, that's fantastic production!!! Hurt E. Foot must be a John Travolta of the nestbox! Uh, btw, how is the little lady when it comes to her dining habits...."Lean Cusine" or "Hungry-Man"?

Thanks ya'll for the help!

She is a good girl, one of our favorites. She is pretty stocky but eats normally, also loves her treats!
We have 8 buffs and love how well they lay especially in winter. Hurt E. Foot will actually Bock Bock if someone is in her nest. That is the only nest box she will use. Too funny!

Wait a minute here, that black hen doesn't even have a touch of gray yet! Hmm, I bet she hasn't even started checking out the "Weight Watchers" meals in the frozen food section at the grocery store! Sorry, she's gotta get a little more age on her before she can join the "Old Biddies Club"...it's for the old prudes, er, uh...older ladies. Yeah, that's it...older ladies. I think it was the spandex apron that actually gave her away.

Come back after your second molt, young lady!

I read your BYC member page and Hurt E. Foot and the gang have a whole new respect from me and ya'll too for taking them in!

I'm trying to get an idea of feed consumption...how much feed do you go through in a week or month and for how many chickens (I see you have Jersey Giants, too!

).

That close-up shot of Hurt E. Foot is a killer....*very* serious stinkeye!

Her comb looks good and healthy...ya'll take good care of them...blessed birds.
