The Old Folks Home

Geta would those water shoes (all mesh on top) keep your feet cooler? My brother gets foot pain - he is a diabetic and he found using lidocaine patches worked very well for him. He has to change locations now and then if it gets irritated. He was telling his foot doctor about the patches. Dr. didn't even know they would work. Now he's recommending them to other patients.

Neuropathy is the pits. I have it in my feet. No diabetes. Just carpy nerves probably from the stenosis. I also have 'pigeon toes'/feet with lots of curvatures in my bones which causes plantar fasciitis. The bottoms of my feet tingle and burn, especially on the left side. Gabapentin helps. So do arch supports.

Took the pups out twice yesterday for a run and 'bug herding' contest. By the time of the second run came around, they weren't jumping nearly as high or as often. Either they were worn out....finally or they came to the conclusion that they couldn't catch those frisky dragon flies. But man did they run. DH got some movies of them and it's just mind boggling their speed and energy.

We had storms overnight again and another inch of well needed rain. Yesterday I spent the afternoon clearing out the bedroom dresser we have that is an antique and dragging it out to the shop so I can sand and refinish the top. the finish is flaking off on it to the point that it's time to do something about it. The cabinet is solid maple and it's heavy as all get out.

DH asked me as he was helping me, why I was doing this now and I told him that I wanted to get it moved before they tell me I can't do that when I see the pain specialist on Wednesday. He started to point out why my logic didn't make any sense that if I couldn't do it after Wednesday then logically I couldn't do it on Saturday.....I just smiled, he said 'never mind' and helped me move the beast out of the house. Gotta give my man credit. He knows me. ;)

Diva, I've never tried a pair of mesh water shoes, so I don't know. I'm in Florida, so sandals are normal footwear most of the year. I get ones that have a bit cushier footbed. I may have to get me a pair of the water shoes to try out.

I will check into the lidocaine patches. Thanks for the tip.

I have refinished several pieces of furniture. I get attached to them. Sadly now I miss them, as they were sold or given away during movies.

Dh went to collect eggs this morning. Yes, I have a broody. We've never had a broody before, so he's never dealt with it. He went to get the eggs, and he swears she hissed at him. Needless to say, he did not get the eggs from under her.
I wish hubby would help with the chickens.

Cap, having Dh in my coop can be a very mixed blessing. He has NO idea how to really care for them, and some of his ideas are not beneficial at all. When I try to instruct him, or explain why some things are done a certain way, it doesn't override his preconceived notions. On the other hand, he is usually very willing to help me, and when I'm out there with him.

I just wish he would help care for them when I am not well. But he feels they are my responsibility so I must do it.
