Yeah, we need to get some up to date pictures of the little freaks. Diesel has learned a new trick. One of the training methods we have used with them is if they get too rough or demanding, we cross our arms across our chests and turn our backs on them. Effectively refusing to give them what they want, our attention. It works beautifully with 4 of the youngsters. Then there is Diesel....who, if you turn your back on him, he bites you on the butt. Not hard, just with those sharp little front teeth so you feel it....and turn back around real fast. That's when Mr. Diesel gets put in time out.
Then there is Varn. Whom we caught dragging magazines under the futon we have in the TV room. DH asked me if the dog was taking up reading so I checked. No, not reading. He's taking them under the futon and shredding them. We knew he was going under it to get away from his brothers. So we started calling it the 'batcave' or better yet, the 'varncave'. Either way I need to get down and go spelunking for magazine parts
Spent much of the day outside tearing down brooder cages and letting the hens loose with their babies. So much fun to watch them with the little ones following behind. One of my broody hens dropped dead two days after weaning her babies. Can't figure out what happened. She was of good weight, and looked normal with the exception of a small amount of clear mucous drainage from one nostril. She had been acting normal that morning when I let them out so who knows.
Still shocked to hear the news about Latestarter. So sad.
@Alaskan. What what wood do you all up there use to heat with? I've seen some on those 'reality' shows showing Alaskans heating with spruce and pine. It's also showing two inches of creosote buildup on their pipes. Yikes is all I can say!
