The Old Folks Home

DH and I got out yesterday and took a walk in the timber with two of our dogs. The dogs love it. Our property perimeter is fenced in with 6 strand barb wire, some areas even have field fencing over the barbed wire and these two stay on their own side of the fence so they have a great time racing from one spot to another. It's like a buffet table of scents for them and they do 'all you can sniff'. We wanted to get out and mark dead trees for harvesting. I think I mentioned that we have oak wilt hitting some of our trees. It seems to like trees that have been 'damaged' by accidental hits or storm damage. I think we marked three big oaks for harvesting and a lot of smaller trees. One of them was one of my favorite trees on the property. Very stately.

But it was great just getting out on a beautiful fall day and getting some exercise. I also found a bush of wild olive and after picking a handful to munch on, I broke off a branch loaded with berries and took it back to the chickens who thought it was very cool. Tut, my Fayoumi rooster started calling the hens and he had a respectable group clustered around that branch munching berries.

But yeah, I agree, exercise is great for depression and I highly recommend it. Back to releasing the endorphins in the brain and getting a natural high from them.

I spent much of the morning outside yesterday and am glad I did. It's only getting to 52 here today and the wind has picked up. Still no fall color....I did find some poison Ivy that had turned red but for the most part, nada. You can tell that the leaves have been hit by frost/freeze as they are browning out around the edges but just no color and we are into the middle of October all ready. Just strange.

For those mentioning mold in their homes, instead of bleach, you might want to try Oxine. When it's fresh, it does not smell like bleach, and I think it works a lot better. It's semi-expensive, but well worth the price. You dilute it, so it's economical to use.

Thanks! I’ll have to try that stuff.

Bit chaotic here. There was just a shooting this morning at an apartment complex in Plymouth. Thankfully no one was hurt and I think they have since updated the articles to say they have several suspects in custody. Originally they were still looking for them as of a couple hours ago and had multiple units and dogs and SWAT and everything out but I think they caught them about half hour ago. That apartment complex is a well known dangerous place though. Not the best people living there and there was just a stabbing a few months ago too.

Stay Safe!

Thanks! Thankfully it’s not really near me, like 4 exits, 15ish minutes, but still kinda crazy. My mom was somewhat near the area and originally she had thought or maybe heard from someone about there being like 10 hostages at a gas station across the street, robbery gone wrong or something, and called my dad freaking out, but I can’t find any info on that and the gas station is right across the street from this apartment place so I think somebody likely just got their info mixed up or heard wrong. It was a bit chaotic with police and multiple agencies everywhere so easy to not know what was going on. But I guess they had a bunch of the schools and some businesses locked down for a while while they were searching for the suspects. I am going to turn the news on and see if there is any more info on it yet.
