Been working on my Christmas gifts and trying to get outside to hike. On Sunday I started heading north to do a hike with my friend and had to turn around. It started snowing and the roads were greasy. By noon the snow stopped and we decided to meet at Gettysburg. Lived here over three years and this is my first visit to the site. Someone worked very hard to build that fence. I guess whoever inherited the place didn't care or were incapable of maintaining.

What hand mixer do you use? My Kitchenaid stand mixer bit the dust a couple years ago, and I’m not going to replace it.
This is what I got, and I LOVE it, however, I'm having trouble finding them now. Maybe on ebay? Here's a picture, and they don't have them online, but you can check with Bed, Bath, & Beyond. https://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/oxo-on-bright-digital-hand-mixer/1044809645/

It is slow, but strong enough on low speeds to do the job without whipping air into the mixture. This is important when I make flow icing for my cookies, because air bubbles ruin the look, or making cakes that don't have air pockets in the batter. Crank it up to a high speed, and it breezes through heavier mixtures, like mashed potatoes. It comes with dough hooks, and is strong enough that they work just fine.

My first broody hatched chick since we moved here! The silkies, all 3 hens, have been sitting on polish eggs. One hatched this morning, was still wet when I saw it.

Congratulations, Cap! Of course we want to see pictures!

Beautiful pictures, @dsqard. Gettysburg is one of those places I've always wanted to visit.
