We have chickage!

Sparkle is a surrogate mother again! One of the two eggs has hatched. She was clucking and poking her head under her body, then a little head poked out from her feathers. It cheeped a bit, then snuggled back into Sparkle's feathers.

She hatched this chick early; I was anticipating watching her and the Tournament of Roses Parade tomorrow morning as the eggs hatched.

pictures aren't great, but here is Sparkle with the two chicks in their dog bed nest under the TV table.

First one hatched - looks like a little owl.

Awweee they are so adorable! How fun! I have a hen that sat on eggs in the coop from they day I went into the hospital, she had two babies hatch but one did not make it. But she has one little cutie. I had to put them in the grow out pen cuz the baby kept getting out of the run and I did not want them to be dog food! And I had chicken wire around the pen to keep all the young ones in there. lol She is a Black Aussie and the baby is a mix of BA and Welsummer. Cuz that was the only rooster I had in there old enough to breed. lol
