Thanks. I have 85 hens....give or take. We are going to be checking the nestboxes three times a day

That is where I was sitting for a long time Val it was horrrible ended up buying eggs at Costco like 2 months

We don't use as many as you do, so only had to buy eggs to make cookies at Christmas, and then two dozen from the Happy Egg Co for us. I've accumulated about 2 dozen now, by being really stingy with them.

I have like 2 18 and 4 12 count in the egg fridge now

Great! Making a lot of progress on the new coop and finally got the chicks moved out today into a temporary pen we set up haha the weather has been great!! and DB & SIL just got a new foster the other day so I’m going to watch her some tomorrow as well as their other dogs haha

Hey, JD, can I get a poster size copy of those eggs so I can hang it up in my coop to shame my hens? I only got 3 eggs today also.

When the cold and snow rolled in my girls went on strike. Clamped those oviducts down tighter than a safe door. Told me they weren't going to start laying until spring or whenever the young cockerels got moved, one of the two!

Can't say I blame them on either count. It's just nasty out plus the young cockerels are well..okay, they are nasty too. I did manage to get out and start pulling my netting out of the 4-5 inches of snow over it. Have to wait till the day time temp hits its high before I can coax it out from under without ripping it.

Hopefully the temp will reach the 34 degrees that they are predicting and I can get it pulled out and back up. Maybe string up some paracord to reinforce it when the next ice storm hits. Chickens won't come out till the snow is melted at least 50%. They don't mind mud to their ankles but lordie lordie, and God forbid that they be forced to walk in that evil white freezing snow stuff!

There's just nothing like a new coop! Can't wait to get started on mine. I have everyone sorted out into the 4 coops at the moment, and it's mostly working, but I'll love having one big one.

That’s awesome!! I think I’m gonna move my current girls to the new one and give them the room they finally deserve and move the littles into the old one haha Or I might just sell all the littles. Almost all boys.
