The Old Folks Home

My car went in for its annual recommended servicing. Now that I'm not driving to Santa Fe anymore (the place sold!), my mileage will look like the proverbial little old lady that only drove to church on Sunday.
However... The dealership is a hop-skippy-jump to Trader Joe's. Haven't been there since late February. SPREE!!!! Seriously, my cart was full to the brim at checkout. Would've spent more, but didn't tarry at the liquor department and the cart was full. Was surprised to find in the egg section fertile ones packed on Day 157 (today is Julian calendar 162) since all the other times I've checked the eggs have been at least 12+ days old. So, naturally, picked up a dozen and plopped them in the incubator with 5 of my girls' contributions for today. We'll see...
(Loved my last hen from store bought eggs, TeJae.)

I'd toss them. Just my preference. You could try the pickling flavor, but you'd lose crispness (if there was any) and, if it failed, you just put good money down the drain.
I dunno... Is there a Greek salad recipe that can use lots of sour cream and dill to offset?

I really don't want to waste the spices if I don't have to. I'd rather use them and make my own.

As for crispness...not much.

Tonight I opened a quart of spaghetti sauce that came with the quart of unseasoned brine pickles. Has anybody ever heard of putting what I believe are hot peppers in spaghetti sauce? I swear it burned my mouth for 10 minutes. I was glad I tasted before I dumped it in with my meat. I'm saving it for pizza sauce...granted it's going to be pizzas with one heck of a kick but I hate waste.

LOL... Yesterday and It was good. I turned 65.... :th spent the afternoon in physical therepy. Getting stronger less wobbly already.... :wee Today I go to the Oncologist and get my quarterly "inspection" LOL. Then later I take mom To Jenny Craig. By the time I get home it will be around 2.

Thats when my new chickens will arrive... Or thereabouts. So today will be busy busy busy... I have a temporary setup here They will get moved up to the house in about three weeks. So will I. I plan to spend about three days a week or so up there Puttering. Redoing the old coop. It only needs a new tarp. and cleanup.

Buy some cucumbers and make your own dill pickles. They are not hard to make. Vinegar, Water, dill and salt. Plus you can add a packet for crispness to you recipe if you want. But I didnt. And you only process them in a water bath.

My chicks discovered they could jump on their water and feeder to get on the top of the wire over their brooder to get out this morning. I had to put a hand towel over the wire to keep them in. They are 3 weeks old. Lol
We are going to have to take them with us to the lake this weekend. This brooder takes up the whole back seat in the truck. At least I can keep them on the screened porch up there like I do here.
