Did you use hardware cloth ??

No just chicken wire, can't afford hardware cloth for that size, thankfully in the 2 years we have been here we have only had mice and rats, and the coop ig self is secure from them. Mostly I am trying to keep out my cats, they seem to think the chicken run is their litter box, since the dirt is always dry there.

Our biggest predator issue here is birds of prey, which is why they have a cover run, but it took me so long to start the fencing luckily I also have good size birds and although they have looked they have never tried, too many easier sized wild birds around. And one of us is usually around too.

A good rooster will call the birds to cover from a arial attack but I have a few cloth nets off amazon

Our three have free run of our fenced front and back yard, we are in town. A very chicken friendly town. We live in an odd area, a quiet culdesac blocks from a very noisy train yard/ industrial area in one direction and wetlands in the other.

Yup, I have been, I also have an iguana and use it for areas of her enclosure so have watched prices for longer then I have had chickens. Just so many things that are more important, and my husband hasn't worked since the shutdown in march.
