The Old Folks Home

Hello all! Sorry it's been so long since my last post. Let's just say 2020 has been a year. My ex husband passed away a month or so ago so I've been trying to support my kids over the loss of their dad. I went to have an ablation to "fix" my afib and they thought they found a tumor in my heart. Thankfully after an MRI and a consult with a heart surgeon, no tumor and no need for any surgery. I was incredibly grateful when I got that news. Mostly been really busy getting Christmas gifts made and shipped off. I've found a few new things to make and made some old ones too. I had a lot of fun making the shadowboxes and the table runner.

It used to be that when the weinermobile showed up, it meant free hot dogs, and weiner whistles. Banks used to give free "prizes" for opening a new account. Toasters were common. Many businesses sent yearly calendars to their customers. In addition, a lot of them would celebrate their anniversaries, which meant free food, and/or prizes.

When my girls were growing up, I was able to stretch our household/food budget a lot farther, because we had a couple good scratch-n-dent stores nearby. I've seen some that were not so good, but I was fortunate that the ones near us were really nice, and carried a large variety of things.

This old folk is headed back to bed. I did my work for today (retired) dragged garbage containers out to the street for trash pickup. Get to snooze until they empty them several hours later.

Might add a bit to the squirrel feeder first- think he is getting tired of the same old food. He looked at it and headed up the street to the huge oak tree and probably a life's worth of acorns. Meanwhile Chickadees are cleaning up everything he is ignoring.
