The Old Folks Home

Wow. I just got some news that I don't know how to react to.
😢
I just lost three friends in less than twenty four hours.
I am so sorry! Between Christmas and New Years day we lost a friend and the neighbor across the street to Covid

I'm very sorry for your loss. Was it just coincidence, or were they all struck down by covid? In any case, I don't think that's normal anywhere anytime, except in war and epi/pandemics.

I'm so sorry JD. I know what it is to experience overwhelming loss, too close together.

The year my best friend died, a couple weeks later, I had to rush to KY. My mom had a reaction to the meds they gave her to combat leukemia. During the Christmas holidays, we planned, and held her funeral. I came home the first of the year. I had been home for only a few hours, when my middle daughter called. She was on her way to the hospital. She was full term, and expected to deliver within 24 hours, BUT there were no baby sounds, or movement. Her OB/GYN sent her rushing to the hospital. The baby had died of umbilical cord problems.

My best friend, my mother, and my first granddaughter all gone within a 6 week period. After the baby's funeral, I was devastated, and overwhelmed. I dropped to my knees sobbing, and begged God not to allow any death near me for awhile. I simply could not take anymore. Too much death, too close together. God honored that prayer.

It has been a hard Year for many of us it seems.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate it. I'm sorry to hear about everyone else's losses.
I hate to admit it but I think I'm starting to get used to it.....just not that many in one day. Since July of 2018 we've lost four family members and seventeen friends....three of the friends from Covid but thankfully no family members.
