The Old Folks Home

Well boogers... Went out to feed and Henrietta my Black Sex link hen was laying next to the door of the pen... She's got a gimpy leg this morning.. So I brought her in and put her in a cage.. Will be watching closely. More than likely a landing error from the roost that goes into her little house. No signs of bumbly foots at all. While she's in here, I stuck some Bag balm on her bare back where Charlie has been overly rambunctious this week. Gotta love bag balm for a host of reasons.

Maybe a hot bath with Epsom salts would help her leg?

This is the bestest forum ever. I probably wouldn't have thought of that until later on. I was in the bedroom reading and then got the 'tub' (66qt tub) ready with epsom salts water.. Maybe a tad too warm since when I put her in she started getting a redder comb and breathing faster after about 5 minutes.. But when I went out to get her from her cage, there she stood with an egg under her.. She's soooooooooo good. Here she is post bath.. Resting comfortably. Her crop is full so I know she's eating.

Today is my anniversary. We have no real plans for today. Dd #2 will be by after work, for me to color her hair. I was suppose to do it last night, but ended up cutting it, and fixing horrible mistakes that she got at the salon. She was wanting a modern style, and figured that because I'm old, I wouldn't be able to cut it. So much for that. Whoever cut it, butchered the cut. It was horrible. She showed up, almost in tears.

Fixing a bad cut, is not usually an easy job, but I can usually do something. In this case, the girl had gone berserk with the clippers, and gouged the remaining hair with the scissors. The one thing I can't do, is put hair back on, where they've sheered it off. After looking at her hair, and our options, she picked a different, very modern cut. When I got done, it looked good, so much better than what the other person had done, and she was happy with it.

Happy anniversary @getaclue! My DH and I have one coming up on April 3. It will be our 14th. He's a keeper!

@CSolis sorry to hear that you have a gimpy bird. They sure can figure out a multitude of ways to do themselves harm.

I like the epsom salt soak. Only think else I would add is maybe a baby aspirin?

I woke up to thunderstorms and pouring rain this morning. Stayed pouring until about 11. Spring showers and all that good stuff. The grass is growing!
