The Old Folks Home

I have never been a fan of a breakfast heavy in carbs.

Later in the day, fine... but breakfast needs protein... like eggs...

Eggs Benedict :drool

Or chicken fried steak is good for breakfast... if it comes with a side of greens... need the greens.

Pancakes and waffles are fine.... for lunch.

a big breakfast is too much for me in the morning----later around lunch or dinner--sign me up

Oddly when I'm working I eat before work 7 and again around 9, then a good lunch followed by an afternoon snack and dinner.
When I'm not working I don't eat breakfast or a morning or afternoon snack. Just lunch and dinner. Right now my waist has grown at least an inch and my arms and chest have lost it, while losing weight that I need to gain.
Irritating that I need bigger pants while losing weight.

Yum I like the idea of both chicken fried steak and Eggs Benedict! And greens too any time!

Every had one of those weeks where it started great, went down hill rapidly and before the end of the day you are muttering, 'Well Crud' and wondering if the rest of the week is going to be the same?

That's how the week started here. Our whole house tankless hot water heater stopped working. Under normal conditions, no bit deal but it's only a year old and DH had a doctor's appointment and all we have is a shower so you get the picture.

Poor guy worked on it all afternoon and can't find anything wrong with it mechanically so he's now replacing the LP regulator before he contacts the company and request a warranty replacement of the unit. In the mean time, no hot water unless we heat it on the wood stove or stove.

Are any of you having trouble getting bedding chips for your birds? I swear peeps around here are hoarding it like toilet paper in a covid pandemic. I may have to resort to opening one of our bales of straw and using it because I really need to get my coops cleaned.

Other than that, hope everyone is staying well and safe.

I hope the water heater is fixed soon!

I will have to check on the bedding chips here. I will need to get feed soon.

I need to get some this week when I go for feed.. I have to set up two more brooders for the kids coming out of the incubator on Sunday.. Else I'm UTCWAP..
Did finally get the back half of the back 40 done this morning, plus used the Remington to clear out more in the east section. I had 4 bags full from the bagger on the new lawnmower so the kids got plenty of stuff to scratch around in and turn into mulch for me. Still have to move the old mulch pile into low spots. I am also taking the two bonsai cypress trees and sticking them down in holes in the low area where it floods a lot.. Those holes are fox burrows from days gone by. Don't know where the fox are now, but I have heard a coyote a time or two at night.. Saw one on the road about 1/2 mile from here too. Electric fencing is good.

As for a high carb breakfast.. It gives me plenty of energy to cut down trees, haul brush to burn piles, mow, weed, and do general chores so I can keep going until past noon.. Then it's quit time because it's too hot to do anything outside. And I don't like heavy carb meals when it's hot and humid outside.

I had a heel of bread left over, so I took it out for extra special chickie snack. They'll do anything for it. One of them stood next to me long enough to pet a few times before she jumped down and away.

I want to make the chicks I get in June a little more lap chicken-ish. Really would like to have more interaction with them. The ones it have come to the door when I come up to the run, but nobody gets on my lap for petting or cuddles.
