The Old Folks Home

Good Morning OF. Overcast with a chance of more rain today. Whoopeee. Makes the grass grow! I got my baby out of his little nest today.. He was hopping all around. Seems chick starter with ground up mealy worms and tuna is agreeing with him. Took a pic with my phone and noticed something I hadn't seen under normal lighting. Bluish feathers. Bluejay perhaps? He's exercising his wings now, so it won't be long before he's ready to go.

Looks like a blue Jay. Pretty prevalent around here.

Yup, actually found a video on YT about feeding baby jays. She's identical to the one in the video and has the same behavior. She's between 1 and 2 weeks old so I have a long way to go taking care of her. I went to DG for a few things and when I returned she was sitting on the edge of the box that serves as a nest. So, I brought in the small dog cage lined it with an old towel and stuck a small branch in it.. She's happy on the branch now, and thoroughly protected by the bantams running around. They've been attacking the Bielefelder chicks when they come out of their brooder.
