I likeWell, my two large flocks of 7-9 are in the old dog pen converted to two runs 12x 25' each. Then there are the two 8x8 hoop coops I built next to the old dog pen. We are at 4 there. Then there's a run with a dog crate in it, made from Gator's old panels with KE and two ladies. The large 32' foot diameter turn out pen, and a smaller 6' round rooster buster pen. and um... Oh, the hoop coop made from the old green house. I count 8. But then that's because I want certain rooskies breeding certain hens, and it eliminates big boy fights. Each pen get's rotated on free ranging. Whatchu think about dat?View attachment 2891253
questions you have a hot wire around all of it? On the large wire do you have smaller wire attached?Well, my two large flocks of 7-9 are in the old dog pen converted to two runs 12x 25' each. Yes to the hot wire. The area that is hot wired has been expanded and the front section fenced off from the back. So there is a front range and back range. 4 pens up front share and rotate grazing, while of the 4 back pens, 2 are rotating. One of the back pens doesn't have access to free ranging, and that would take another huge post, cutting chainlink, and putting in a gate for them.. I just can't do it. Oh, and Gen Lee and the little ones aren't allowed out yetquestions you have a hot wire around all of it? On the large wire do you have smaller wire attached?

As to wire on wire. Not on the chain link, but on the hoop coops and round pens I fastened chicken wire to the cattle panels used to make the framework. Also use deer netting over the tops to prevent escapes or aerial attacks.
The only problem I've had are the possums. I wrapped the cedar tree spirally with hotwire to keep the monkeys from going up that one, but apparently now they are using the old sweet gum tree near it to go up and cross over higher up on the cedar. They are clever SOBs! I used to watch them use power lines in Miami like a super highway. Did you know a possum can jump 10 feet?
Fats are a major offender in both Crohn's and irritable bowel (I think worse then veggies)and sometimes I don't know which is causing the pain. The irritable bowel can cause major distress but at least it doesn't cause inflammatory damage like the Crohn's does. For that reason It will be helpful to know what the levels of inflammation are.Ugggghhh Good morning all.
Lordie but I hate time changes.
Got up this morning, and made coffee using DHMO. Now drinking a mug + 1 top off of coffee laced with sweet n low and DHMO. It is delicious! I now understand why everyone is so upset by the prevalence of this substance in our daily lives. It is highly addictive. By the end of the day I will have consumed over 80 ounces of the chemical and crave more event even though it will have me up to the bathroom at least twice.
It's an atrocity I tell you and something must be done! Why even my chickens are hooked on the stuff!
@bruceha2000 nope, never tried goat's milk. There are goat dairies all over the countryside. I should stop with a gallon milk jug and see if I can buy some as Pet Food. That's how you have to do it here in Missouri to get around the health dept. rules.
@lovesfarms I am totally bewildered by my diet. I ate chili twice yesterday with only the unpleasant side effects from the beans that we all experience. The fiber in beans has always been acceptable to my digestive system. Granted I don't make our chili as spicy as some do. I have no desire to wear asbestos underwear. But we like to just taste a bit of the burn. If anything was to set my intestines off it would have been that chili, especially eating it twice in one day.
But it gets even more interesting in that I ate vanilla ice cream last night expecting to have the same stomach upset that I had with the chocolate. Nope. Nada. Since the low fat chocolate ice cream that I ate was a different brand from the vanilla, I can only suspect that there is an additive in there that my stomach does not like.
I'll probably today roast a chicken leg quarter for dinner and bake some squash. The thought of eating peas makes me gag and they say stay away from corn so that leaves green beans which I normally love but right now just tolerate.
Frozen mango frozen tropical fruit frozen blue berries I can eat by the bowlful and the fudge brownies that I made last weekend were so delicious I had to tell myself NO NO NO when I was tempted to make another batch of them.
The only red meat I eat is Hamburger and I try to hold that to once a week. Once again, no problems. I have to admit that I think about your diet every time I eat. You are a woman of strong will and fortitude and I salute you! But I understand. You get to the point where you will do anything to keep from having pain and the nastiness that your bowels can bestow upon you when they are in a snit. I sure hope your test for inflammation goes well for you next week. I see my DO on Wednesday.
As Yul Brenner said in The King And I, it is a bewilderment. I have no doubt that it is going to take tiny cameras on long tubes going at me from all angles to figure out what is going on with me.
In the mean time, 66 today and sunny. I need to start cleaning out the coop. I know, I know, Sunday is a day of rest. I'll just have to owe me a day off.
@CSolis. Good on you for offing that (bleeping) dirty possum. Nasty things each and every one of them. The two hens you lost were lovely. I'm so sorry.![]()
