The Old Folks Home

I went to the oncologist this morning. She ordered more tests that will give a more exact picture of what's going on. The outlook is much more promising than originally presented by the hospital.

I'm not out of the woods yet, so please continue to pray for me.

I thank you all for your prayers, and encouragement. I'll keep you updated.

Good news, @getaclue. I'll keep those prayers going!

We had an amazing experience this morning in the timber. DH had gone out ahead of me and I followed on foot with the dogs. Still felling trees and cutting them up. Good thing mother nature gifted us with ample supply of dead stnading wood to harvest.

On the way down I 'bumped' a couple of big does. They had been hanging around and DH had spooked them yesterday. Didn't think more of it until I heard a plaintive MAAAAA! MAAAAA! coming from the far side of the dry creek bed I was following to our work site. When I reached DH I told him to keep an eye on the dogs because I thought there was a fawn on the other side of the creek and I had spooked the two does that were taking care of it.

Well it went on bleating it's little head off. I was cutting up a length of firewood and when I paused noted that the bleating was getting louder. DH was closer to where the dogs were lying in the sand of the dry creek bed where it was cool and I told him to grab them because...oh CRAP! I looked around and here comes the silly fawn out of the underbrush. It trots across the creek bed and down the path right towards me. I freeze. Silly fawn marches up to me still bleating. The top of it's head barely reaches my knee and is just beautiful. I didn't want it to touch me or I it so I held out my hand (gloved) and it reached out and sniffed my hand like...have you seen my momma I can't find my momma...I talked to it for a minute, it's big ears pivoting around, still sniffing me, then it walked over and started exploring the tractor, sniffing the tires, the bucket frame work before moseying down the path still bleating it's little brain out. I clapped my hands so it wouldn't come back to us and it disappeared into the overgrowth. I took the dogs back to the house and we still heard it bleating from time to time.

We finished up and left so the does could come back. DH speculated that maybe it was a mother and daughter and one of them had lost a fawn so they were both taking care of the remaining baby. I just hope they found the little one that I christened Timber.

A truly amazing gift from Mother Nature.
