The Old Folks Home

You need to stop lifting rounds and carrying split wood. Instead, do something useful like going to a gym to lift weights ;)

I suppose there is some validity to a planned weight program to use different muscles.

Me too, that is probably a problem for most of us. If we get hit by a bus or Covid, or a sudden heart attack, no one knows to let our virtual friends know.

I suppose it could be useful to mail the list to the doctor a week prior so they know what a patient wants to talk about. But then if they have a 15 minute slot, I don't suppose they can deal with more than a thing or two.

I've never understood why someone would say no to that request. Book learning only goes so far and their current doctor ages same as the rest of us mortals. Who the heck does such a person think is going to take care of them or their children if no one gets hands on training?
Some people are very modest and have a hard time letting anyone see their body, especially strangers. Especially very old ladies. I never mind a student, but i know there are people who do.

I don't mind students either, Cap. Was one myself. We all have to learn. I look at it as being a teaching moment between the student and myself.

Last one I had was on his first rotation, first year intern. He asked me if he could listen to my heart and I told him sure. He listened for a minute and I asked him. Do you hear my murmur? He gave me a puzzled look and I told him that I had had Rheumatic fever. Mitral regurg as a result. Listen carefully because with aging the axis of my heart had changed and it was harder to hear. He listened again and had a puzzled look on his face. He admitted he thought he heard something but couldn't pinpoint it. He said he was going to try one more thing and listened under my left breast. His face lit up. There it is, he said and admitted I was right. It was very soft and intermittent. I think I made his day.

My goal before I got sick was to become a nursing instructor. Husband asked me why I didn't become a doctor.

Sometimes I wonder that myself. Woulda shoulda coulda.

@bruceha2000. Here is our latest challenge. The leaner is a red oak. The leanee is a hickory. Both have to go, The left half of the red oak hit the ground two winters ago now and we harvested it. The half in the pictures refuses to come down under it's own power and is still alive as the pictures show. Quite unsafe though.

We've been advised to notch it at the base and pull it out with the tractor. What do you think?

Sure looks dangerous!

Morning all! Sunny and warm here today. Indian Summer for sure. They are calling for rain this week, finally. We are in a moderate drought here so it will be welcomed with no complaint. We have only had a half inch of rain in the past 3-4 months so it's dry and dusty here.

We have been cutting trails this weekend so stiff and sore are the key words for today. So bring on the coffee. I just might cheat and have a cup of REAL liquid sunshine.
