The Old Folks Home

I'm counting the months until I can get Social Security. YAY! Let's hear it for getting older!
Ah, but first you have to decide WHEN you want to get it!

Early?
At "normal retirement age for the year you were born"?
Wait until 70 for "max" benefits?

How long are you going to live? Yep, the unanswerable question.
Based on family history, I potentially have 25 or 30 more years.

Talked to our "financial guy" about just this thing. Here's what he had to say.

"They have pushed the age to receive SS back, but they have never taken it away from someone once they're receiving it."

We planned our retirement based on the premise that SS wouldn't be available. So taking as soon as it's available is our plan. It'll be less than it could be, but it will be "extra," not essential, because we never planned on it.

My parents both died young, at 58 and 60. Dad's parents lived to late 60s and early 70s. Mom's parents lived to 80s and 90s. Her brother lived to 96, and had all his marbles too.

Good morning everybody. Dreary, gross day today. Dog refuses to go out. I don’t blame him. He climbed back into bed. :lau I wish I could do the same but I can’t today lol
