The Old Folks Home

I think there are some bad cells in my brain that keep me awake some nights. They miss fire and then backfire. Sleep from high powered sleeping meds don't give restful sleep. I haven't had one of those in years. I've had people tell me how good they work but they might be fooling themselves. After taking them for a brief period I was feeling like crap every day even though I had slept.
Have you had your vitamin D level checked recently? Most of the time, my vitamin D levels are fine, BUT every so often my vitamin D levels will bottom out. I get no warning prior to it happening, it just happens suddenly. Our bodies convert sunlight into vitamin D, and usually that's sufficient. In my case, I get plenty of sunlight, so that's not the problem.

When my vitamin D levels crash, the first signs are that I'm tired, and sleep is not restful. Sleep doesn't recharge me, so I'm as tired when I wake up, as I was before I went to sleep. When my vitamin D levels crash, I have to take quite a high dose of vitamin D, just to maintain a healthy level. The additional vitamin D is in addition to the vitamin D in my daily multivitamin. This may last for a few weeks, or a few months, then as suddenly as it began, I'm back to stable levels of vitamin D, and have to stop taking the higher doses of it. Taking too much vitamin D can be dangerous too. At the first sign of chest tightness (heart) I immediately stop the extra vitamin D, and get re-tested on my next doctor visit.

Don't just run out and grab a vitamin D supplement, and start taking it, without being tested first. With testing, it will determine if you're not low at all, a little low, medium low, or have bottomed out, so your doctor can tell what dosage to prescribe, if needed. You may not be bottomed out like I do, but you could be low enough that you would benefit from a little higher dose, than what you would get from a multivitamin.

Well, i never feel really good these days anyway. The best treatment for insomnia i have found is meditation. Concentrating on relaxing each body part top to bottom. I do miss the massages i used to get with Mom once a month. And the other technique i use is pretending my mattress is floating on gentle seas. Just relax and enjoy floating.

There were 3 recalls on my truck, which were all taken care of yesterday. It's been updated. Since it was time, I had the oil, and filters changed too.
My favorite outdoor activity is searching for rocks. Forget my aches and pains, just concentrate on the rocks.

The smart thermostat is a bit annoying. It shows the time until you get in front of it then the time display disappears! I have no idea why it works that way.
It's seeing you coming and your motion woke it up for 5 seconds so by the time you look at it, it's back off again. There are settings for those or, just duck down until your under it, then stand up and you get the full 5 seconds! 😊

Hello Dawg.

Vitamin D levels ok. They have been checked. I take them daily and get a little sun most days. What I think about during meditation just keeps me going like a runaway train. Maybe floating on the mattress catching fish might work. :)
When i think too much about tomorrow, i write a list and put it aside for the next day. Hubby says i can go to sleep in one minute sometimes!
