The Old Folks Home

I seem to have sweated out some of this crud I caught. Feeling somewhat better. It's dropping into the mid 40's tonight. It's already colder out now than it was early this morning. Of course, when the weather channel says mid-40's, that usually translates to high 30's to low 40's here.
40's in central Florida is like 10 in the north! Time to break out the long johns and electric blanket! Stay warm, my friend!

We didn't even put up a tree this year. Next year is a maybe unless the kid and her kid and her kids volunteer some help.
We didn't either. We put up the lights in the window and that projector thing in our cut glass front door that looks cool, but that's it. We only get about 12 cars in a day out here so it's mostly for us and the farmer across the road anyway. We have no real present opening here either. I have one of those Snoopy trees with one branch and a bulb if something ever came up.

Usually, we do put one up though. Not sure why this year neither of us were in the mood.

We had a nice fir tree this year for the daughters & their families who we hosted for Christmas; 3 yr old grandson loved playing with the ornaments he could reach! The tree's looking tired by now so I'll undecorate on Jan. 2.

We usually just haul the tree out into the woods to "rot in peace" but a local guy posted a photo on NextDoor of his pet goats happily chomping on a Christmas tree with the caption, "We love eating Christmas trees! Please donate yours and we'll take care of it." So I'll contact him to come by and get ours for his goats' enjoyment!

Off the beaten path of topics, my middle daughter turned me onto something called Boogie Wipes. They're great to use instead of Kleenex type tissues. They were originally introduced for cleaning babies' noses, and my niece has used them all her life. She's a teen now, and still uses them. I have to admit, they're pretty nifty.

The kids, they are 25 to 15, got the tree by themselves this year... I was too sick, and spouse has a messed up foot...

The kids also decorated the tree... bare bones, but lovely (candycanes, mushrooms, lights, and a few ornaments, a tiny angel from my childhood for the top).

It has been great! We didn't put it up until the Saturday right before Christmas, since all kids weren't home until then!

Anyway... so, it will stay at least until we are back to only 2 kids. I think that is the 5th.

We have been doing wedding planning with the bride-to-be.

Just amazing my #2 son found this woman! I started talking to her about money... I was worried my son hadn't been clear about how strapped he is while he is still in school.....

She has enough money set aside, it will last until he is done with grad school.... he will not have to worry, and will be able to keep focused on his studies.

So grateful!
