The Old Folks Home

All the outside decorations are down. I was going to start taking down the inside tree, when Dh asked me to go with him to a neighbor's, to get some Oak wood. I loaded half a trailer load, and he did the rest. I was spent, but he went back for another trailer load. So much for getting the Christmas tree down. We got a year's worth of wood. He came back from the second trip, and after unloading it, he too was spent.

I'll either get the tree down tonight, or tomorrow. The wood was more important, since the tree isn't going anywhere.

We haven’t taken the tree down yet. I have whittled down our decoration to the tree and the top of the piano and stair railing where we hang stockings. My DIL gave me several pounds of pork I needed to get canned in some form or another so that took priority. Of course it took a couple days deciding whether to can it plain or as a ready made meal. This time deciding didn’t leave time to do the tree or the railing.
I got the pork canned yesterday as burrito filling so the tree can come down today!

Good afternoon, OF! Lots of rain the past 2 days but I see (gasp!) blue sky peeking out of the clouds now, so time to get outside, run the dogs and tend the chooks. Still need to undecorate the tree so I can drag it out to the street for the local goat guy to pick up as treat food for his pet goats.

Got summoned for jury duty on 1/22 (sigh), will report without fuss since I deferred & deferred during the worst of last year's local COVID surge; too old, too many health risk factors. (I've done jury duty SO MANY times in my life, I was not going to die of COVID after living as hermits for so long to prevent that.) My last case was a gang-related murder...THAT was fun. 😟😧 Glad I wasn't the foreman on that one, as I have been for several other cases...domestic violence, etc.

I used to get summoned every two years, like clockwork, and I always got called. The last one I ALMOST served, but it was vehicular homicide DUI and apparently my feelings on the topic were a bit too strong. The one before that was a rape/murder case, ditto.

The most recent I tried to get deferred because I was working nights, getting off at 4 am, and kept getting told by the computer that my deferral couldn't be processed. So I went in, at 7 am with no sleep whatsoever, only to discover that I had been deferred but the e-mail was never sent...

Dang, I WANT to serve on a jury soooo badly! I know, I could go be a spectator, but I never get a round to looking to see if there's anything going on.

Snain is snow/rain. Row is rain/snow. Depends on how well you can see it. Snain is a bit more visible.

I supposed it could be called sleet. :idunno

I raise my bottle of kombucha in a toast! I drink one every day. :lau
I am a fifth generation Californian on my Mom's side....We do not have fancy slang works for snow...We do use Sleet though!
