When I had hens I would give them some very warm Oatmeal. Don't put nuts or small things in it as they will try and peck it out and make a mess... someone will get the Beak fling bits all over them

Good morning Old Folks. It's a gorgeous day today. 64° at the moment. In a couple of hours the temp is nose diving on its way to sub freezing.

Good afternoon Old Folks. The polar vortex is leaving here.
32 today We will be back in the 40's at night by weeks end.

I worked up a sweat building on a new hoop coop today. That is not going to happen tomorrow with the high in the low 30's. If it's not careful it will fool around and snow. They keep talking about rain with temps in the 20's at night. I may stay hunkered down for that.

We are in a heat wave not 38 out now but still feet about froze with
rubber boots snow is all intact nothing has thawed as yet.
but the witch came back now.

The furnace is set at 70 but is maintaining (barely) at 67. Got up to 68 briefly, then dropped again. I expect it will drop to at least 64 overnight, with the furnace struggling to keep up.

Tomorrow's low should be a balmy 13 degrees.

Now the weather forecast is calling for snow. I don't need any of that. Southern chickens will be terrified.

They turned school out when I was in the 5th grade so we could go outside to see it down by where you are.
