Instead of a forecast drizzle we have had a real monsoon dropping our temp from the mid 90's to the mid 70's. AC not needed the rest of the day.

Now my harvesting the mid season sweet corn will have to wait until around 6pm. I'll have an hour and a half to get it into buckets and up to the house. Some may yet get processed tonight but most of it will tomorrow. Back to the low 90's tomorrow.

Sweet corn is out. Finished right at dark. Covered up a cart load for early morning processing. Both of us to tired and worn out to do any more today. Didn't dare not cover it but didn't want to either. It's going to be cool tonight so I think it will be ok. This is from a patch that was to keep us and friends in corn until the main patch for processing was ready. This is not good enough to give away as we let it get wormy like I had growing up decades ago. A sharp knife will trim off the bad spot and the chickens will get the worms. Some really bad ears we will just cut worms and all off into a bucket and call the free ranging kids to it.

I'm up, but not at 'em yet. Hubby's still in bed, so I do quiet things. Like hang out on BYC.

Good morning, OF. Having my annual echocardiogram this afternoon.

It rained for about an hour last night. Just a regular shower, not a torrential rain. Today, it's cloudy, and threatening to rain again. YAY! We need rain so bad, and that little hour long shower wasn't nearly enough. There are dead patches of grass in the yard, (not unusual when there's no rain), and everyone is complaining about their gardens not making. It's suppose to rain for the next few days, so hopefully that will save the gardens. Of course, it will revive the grass, (as long as you leave it alone, the root system stays healthy, and when the rain hits, it all springs back to life with gusto), so we'll have to mow OFTEN.

I bet you are happy that the corn is harvested and processed!

It sounds like a lot of work that pays of big time!
