Dh loves DJ Steve Aoki, and the music he plays. It's more along the lines of Techno music, for RAVEs. He was at the Hard Rock yesterday. The tickets were $60.00 per person, just to get in. It was being held by their 2 main (biggest) swimming pools. (It was 95 degrees yesterday, so the pools would be a welcomed relief from the heat. It started at 11:00 am (be there by 10:00 am), and ended somewhere around 10:00 pm.
The problem I saw, and couldn't get a definitive answer to, was where to sit. There is no way I could stand for hours on end, without being able to sit down. The tables with umbrella and (6?) chairs were $11,000.00. The covered Cabanas were $18,000.00 for the smaller ones (6 people), the larger ones $24,000.00 (12 people). The Daybeds, (chaise lounge chairs) had to be purchased in groups of 6, and were $23,000.00. That's like $383.00 per chaise lounge. So a ton of people will be there, and you have to pay out the wazoo if you want to sit down. Again, there is no way I can stand for hours on end, even with a pool break, so I decided not to go.
Just before 5 pm, it stormed hard here (lightening, hard rain, lots of wind, and gusts). So much for the concert, right? Around 7 pm I commented to DD #1 that it seemd highly unlikely that all those people would be standing out in that severe weather, that long, for a concert. Sure, if it was a light summer shower, or if it had only rained for an hour, no big deal, but that wasn't the case.
When Dh got home at 11:00 pm, he informed us that yes, lightning hit right near the stage, and they immediately herded everyone inside. It had knocked out the power, but the Hard Rock has multiple generators, so power was quickly restored. A minor problem was that the DJ's equipment needed more power than the generators could supply, so they had to trim down on which parts of the equipment to use, so they could deliver maximum sound, without overloading the generators. They soon got it all reconfigured. Rock On!
BTW, what you can't see in the pictures, is that one of the pools, over half of it is only 12 - 18 inches deep. Dh explained that everyone sits, and it's not quite waist deep. It's enough to keep everyone seated, cooled off, and not prevent them from eating, drinking, etc. He said the waitresses were passing out LOTs of free bottled water, so no one would get dehydrated. Overall he had a great time.
Dh began showing me pictures, and video clips he had taken. Most of the pictures he took, were of women's butts, and midsections in their bathing suits. Some, he got their faces to, but most didn't have the faces. I commented about him needing to adjust something, because he was cutting off their heads. Nope, he did it on purpose. ?????????? What he said next, floored me.
He was showing me butt, and belly pictures of all these young women, then suddenly he pulled up a couple pictures he had taken of me, in my bathing suit, by our pool. "Regardless of your age, your butt is as tight, and firm, and good looking as any of these young women, and I have the proof for you". "Look at all these gals under 30, but they've got little belly pooches". "They're not fat, but clearly they don't work out, and their stomachs are not tight like yours is". "You will fit right in to one of these events, in your bathing suit, and you can be proud of your figure, even when compared to younger women". Bless his pea picking little heart.
