Good morning, OF!

It's election day. The township where I live is electing a new board. Oh, my it has been a nasty, rancorous business. It's all about ONE issue: commercial solar on the farm fields around the township.

I wish I had thought to ask the candidate who came to my house, "Ok, put that issue aside. What are your qualifications for running the township?" But I let her lead the conversation. Mostly because I was trying to get her to leave so I could finish cooking dinner.

It rained off and on all day yesterday. Today, it's sunny out. Like I said, we've really needed the rain, so the run off is disappearing quickly.

I got enough rain in the random rain showers to get the peas I just planted up in 3 days. I'll take a look at the pole beans when I get out later in the day. It's feeling like over a 100° now and I don't need to experience that again any time soon after being out in it this morning.

Seems both the Son and myself planted Kale.
I laid down for nap first time.

Goodnight Old Folks. I may get some Collards planted tomorrow. I think those are southern Kale.

I canned collards yesterday, today it was an experimental batch of pressure canned zucchini. We really like collards, I harvested most of the leaves and am hoping the plants will keep producing. I’m also thinking of planting some more if I can remember where I put the seeds!

Here collards will grow most of the year round. My grandmother would always put hers in the freezer for a bit before cooking as she believed it would make them taste better like they had seen a light frost.
