The Old Folks Home

Good morning Old Folks. It's mid morning here now and already 76°. There is a very large storm system moving west to east just north of us. We are very near to it's outer edge. One slip up and it will drown us with several inches. We could us just one inch.

I'm going to have to man up and sharpen the post hole diggers and dig 4 holes about 11-12 inches in diameter and plant the 7-8" diameter treated posts at each end of of the new muscadine rows in cement. They will support the trellis wire that will have at times 400-500 lbs of grapes on it. There are steel posts in between each vine.

Is the post hole digger an attachment to a tractor or the manual pound it into the dirt type?

Manual pound it in with arms and back. I didn't even get started. Heavy rains coming tonight and maybe that will soften the ground up and make the job easier. I just don't have enough holes to justify buying a power auger that two men hold and let it to the work with.
