In Maine if we want to be NPIP we have to bring (for the first time) our entire flock to someone who does the testing. I can just see me now filling out the rental paperwork for the UHAUL I'd need. I would probably need extra "incidental insurance" for the poop.
Ah, okay, thanks for the explanation. I wonder how many other states have those regulations. Does anyone know other specific states with those kinds of regulations?
I'm in Texas too. You have to have a Texas Pullorum-Typhoid certificate done yearly.
It is free of charge, they come to your house and takes very little time.
This is for anyone that moves any poultry or eggs off of your own property.
The main # is 979-845-4186 and they will give you the tester's # for your area.

I have thought many times about getting NPIP tested here, and I have even done a little research as to what would need to be done, but that is as far as I got. It is free in Alabama and I hope to get around to it in the next year. I have heard that the main reason to do it here is because you can get free necropseys if you are NPIP certified at the time the bird dies. That would be worth it, right there!

Ok, this is a first in a long time! A 100% hatch rate! Of course they weren't shipped. I sold all of my bators but my still air. It is my very first bator. I wondered how it would do. So the friend that bought my other bators, brought me 12 eggs. 12 eggs hatched!
Here are some pictures...
NOTE ~ DIDI! The blue, is the 5th generation of some of the blue eggs you sold me a long time ago! I had a lot of blue babies. Well, this picture of the blue, is from one of her blue mama's that she bought from me. It looks like it's going to be a blue splash.
Who would have guessed, thought I would try out my little still air and see if it would work.
Yep! DiDi, there is the blue on the left.
This is the lighter chipmunk baby, came from a brown egg.
The blue baby from DiDi's line.
Adorable, love that face! Guess I know now..this little incubator works. I better put it
away! Glad the gal that gave me the eggs will take back what I don't keep or place.

Edited to add: The smiley is animated. For some reason animation does not work well for me. A BYC thing? If I move my cursor over it, the animation starts.
ronott1....no new bator coming my way..I'm trying to slow down on hatching, and this happens! lol...I have sold all of my baotrs, bu this still air. Just wanted to see how it would work since it's the very first bator I ever had. It's been used a lot, but it's still going good.
Thanks on the compliments. I love the babies!
is growing. I've been meaning to ask you if that pullet finally got going for you? If so, what color eggs does she lay? (I figure brown since she looks so much like a brahma) BTW, I am glad I didn't give you that lavender AM "pullet" The more it grows, the more I am actually thinking it may be a cockerel. It has never crowed and is still growing in tail feathers (I think the other hens pulled them) but I swear this bird has pointy saddle feathers.
