The Old Folks Home

They do not fall apart, yes, but do they work? A lot of money for one rooster

The collar worked so well that the Partridge Penedesenca and the Crele Penedesenca do not crow outside. When the crow inside they are a lot quieter. The Partridge does not have a collar on now.

On the other end, it did not work with the Pita Pinta. He is massive though so I might need an extra large one for him.

Good to know... I can't keep roosters unless I have something. And I wan't to have Basque.

It is worth a try!

I got my puppy and she was not house broke so I bought a used playpen to keep her in. So I did not have so much mess in the house. It works.

On another note Ron can you measure your collar?
I made one that is 4" but I made it adjustable to try it out.

I guess I will keep making adjustments as needed?

What's concept behind the crow collar?

Nice site Oz. I really admire what you've done.

Watching the wild drummer video, I stumbled onto this young girl. I thought I'd share.
Desiree Bassett - 15-18 years old in the following performances.
I'm not a fan of her singing but she can play guitar. A mean guitar.
Did I mention she's a Hendrix fan?
You can skip ahead to the 3:45 mark to jump over the singing in this next vid of one of her originals.

this I pulled from Wikipedia
At 2 years old, Bassett's musical ability was encouraged by her parents after hearing her sing herself to sleep singing Reba McEntire songs.[5] A year later, she began playing a half-size Lotus guitar.[6] Her father recalls when she surpassed his ability at guitar when, at 4½, she was correcting his playing mistakes. The defining moment for him came after listening to his daughter play an intricate Joe Satriani song that he himself had spent almost ten years to learn, without success:[6]
By the time she was 5, her father began training her on a full-sized 1983 Ibanez Roadstar II.[3] At 8, she played her first competition at the local fair grounds playing a Joe Satriani cover, coming in second place.[7] At the age of 9, she began taking singing and guitar lessons at the University of Connecticut music program,[8] where it was discovered she had perfect pitch and could play by ear.[6] She soon began giving lessons herself.[5] Bassett counts among her influences Jeff Beck, Rik Emmett, Jimi Hendrix, Reba McEntire, the Allman Brothers and her personal idol Joe Satriani.

The collars are:

6 strips of velcro, 4 to 11.5 inches long depending the size of the rooster.

Use cloth Material that is breathable or good netting. Experiment and it is about two inches.

Sew the strips to the material, do not glue it.

Velcro is not cheap from walmart. After some practice, it would be cheaper to get the velcro online somewhere.

My pet chicken has good instructions for using them and some pictures.

No one has really explained exactly how it works.

It looks to me like the put them into a short cage at night method. If the Rooster cannot completely arch the neck back, he cannot fully crow.

It cannot be a muffling thing because the sound comes out of the mouth. It might be stopping the "crow" box from fully filling.

It makes all of them quieter and cuts off the crow sound. They sound funny when crowing. They also crow less somewhat.

I have noticed a sound like a squeeze box filling up with air after they crow.

I've had roosters in small cages overnight and they crowed as loud and frequently as ever.

It probably just makes them uncomfortable.

With my new baby monitor, I can finally hear them crow in the morning. Much more pleasant way to awaken than a BRRRGH BRRGH BRRGH BRRGH alarm clock.
