The Old Folks Home

Oz is more than welcome to award his Coco Beach t-shirts on this thread as well! I don't have t-shirts, or I would offer some as prizes. Hmmmmmmm, let's see..........what could I send for the milestone posts? Geritol? Depends? Aleve? Blue pills? A Cane? Prunes? Oh, the possibilities...............
Those all sound like things I hopefully won't need for quite some time. A cane might be sort of cool though.

That's one thing I don't understand about yank weather, always with the real feel or windchill aspect. Somehow I think it might be because us Celsius people associate temperature so strongly with what form water takes in the temperature, while the Fahrenheit scale has a bit different way of looking at things.
I read an article about wind chill last winter. Apparently, we have been calculating it all wrong for a long time--based on some studies in the arctic in the early 1900s. It has been recalculated and lowered as an effect.

This caused problems because People for many years, for some a lifetime, have been basing winter clothing on wind chill temps. Now what might have been -20 with wind chill is -5 with wind chill thus making people wear too thin of a coat.

The best thing to do is go by what the temperature is. Real feel and wind chill is actually dependent on the person somewhat. Some are sensitive to either or both extremes so a temperature of 80 can kill someone while others are fine up to 100. Same for cold temps.

That's what I do. Plus having an extra sweater with you isn't that difficult

Do you pray? If so, please pray for my mentally handicapped sister. She has been living in a special home. They went swimming at a lake here. She was found listless in the water. She wasn't breathing, someone got her to start breathing a bit until the medics got there. She is inti bated and has a breathing tube. The dr. gave us all of the different scenarios. 72 hrs. they will know better how she will be. She was still unconscious. I can't believe this happened. There will be an investigation.

Praying for you and your sister. Yes, an investigation is in order. Negligence on someone's part. Mentally challenged people do count. I have a Downs Syndrome GDaughter and she just got back from camp. It's the only one that allows her to be there. Others always called and said "Come get her". She's a pistol and hard to handle. Keep us in the loop, hon.

This little chatty group will hit 18000 posts within 24 hours.

That's a lot of talk

You think it will take that long? I'm a bit of a chatterbox...

*Edit* When was the next t-shirt being awarded? :p

*Edit #2* This wasn't Oz's thread. Nevermind the t-shirt.

Oz is more than welcome to award his Coco Beach t-shirts on this thread as well!  I don't have t-shirts, or I would offer some as prizes.  Hmmmmmmm, let's see..........what could I send for the milestone posts?  Geritol?  Depends?  Aleve?  Blue pills?  A Cane?  Prunes?  Oh, the possibilities...............

I vote for a physical therapy certificate.... So all the cramped up muscles from arthritic and a messed up back can be smoothed away.

Or, little monsters to chew on the arthritic hand..... Gotta help better than Aleve.

A very strange thing happened here this morning. Things were wet outside.

No, it did not rain...we reached Dew point! There was Dew today. The windshield on the car was even wet.

We almost never reach dew point in the summer.

Sadly the cool weather will come to an end soon. Temps will be up to 100 this weekend again. That is real 100, not real feel 100.
Sorry your cool weather is leaving. But fall is just around the corner.
