My son, a redhead, started getting the high forehead at 17- he's 28 now and has been shaving his head for a couple of years. Just lately he started keeping a short beard. Wow, he really looks good with it. I hope he keeps it.
I like bald heads or I should say I like the person whether attached to a bald head or not. So many young guys shave their heads especially if their hair is thinning. I think that is liberating, sorta going
at nature. They made the decisions to be bald rather that letting it just happen to them.
Personally I've been clipping my own hair very, short for 14 years now. I always wanted to have gorgeous shampoo ad hair, long, swingy, sexy. Never had it, instead I had long, thin stringy hair - ick. Way back when girls used to iron their hair I never had too. Then in high school I started going gray. At first I pulled out all the gray ones - then came to my senses when I noticed I has having bald spots from yanking out so many gray hairs.
My mom had breast cancer and refused radiation or chemo even tho it had spread to lymph nodes. Instead she was on tamoxifin (spelling??) for 11 years. Her cancer came back and had spread - then chemo and radiation did no good. By then they had discovered if you were on tamoxifin for more than 5 years, it actually caused cancer.
I bring this up because what upset her most was loosing her hair .She got a wig but it was too late by then. She never got to wear it.
After that I wondered if I would have the guts to be bald. After my son got to college, and I didn't have to meet with his teachers or go to college events, I decided to cut my hair off. Due to clipper malfunction - okay my stupidity, I ended up shaved to the scalp - not my original goal. I couldn't get the clipper guides to cut anything, so I kept switching to closer ones , still nothing. Then stopped using a blade guide, and used the blade alone. After I made a horrible mistake with the surgical blade I found out why it hadn't been cutting. It had a clear plastic blade guard on. The last time I changed blades it apparently fell off.
I was like
and
and even
. I tried to do a comb over but, that looked hideous so I bit the bullet and shaved my entire head to the scalp. Everyone hated it but, I will say it made my eyes the focal point of my face and I liked it. It upset alot of friends who thought the worst but, I always told them and even strangers I just goofed with the clippers. I wasn't trying for sympathy - I just discovered than being bald is not as bad as I thought.
My hair has been kept very short ever since and I like it. By the time I hop out of the shower my scalp is dry. I don't need a comb and hair doesn't get in my eyes. It also cuts down on wind resistance, so I think I walk faster.
P.S. I save oodles on shampoo but, always wear a wide brimmed sunhat outdoors.
