The Old Folks Home

Hahaa, I am hear to disrupt your intentions. Sadly it becomes a bit of a monologue with everyone sleeping.

Real men cook.

And now the east coast US early birds are up and at 'em.

I am dragging, today, though. Is it only Wednesday? I worked all last week and the weekend, too, so this is the loooooooooongest week.

I can't think of anything else even half intelligent to say.

Afternoon, SCG. Don't worry, even quarter intelligent will do. Have some coffee and you'll be up and running in no time.

Yup, except I'm a tea kinda girl. I've already had my first dose, and will prepare a to go cup in just a few, also. I at least slept last night, so I should be a highly functioning person again in about 20 minutes.

Hope you're having some nice weather and have a lovely evening!

Never said it would cure cocci. It's a preventive. If you keep having repeated cases, get it treated and then get them started on yogurt and keep giving it to them. Sounds like your piece of earth got infected somehow and you're going to have to keep the yogurt coming. You can also add a "prebiotic" which is just a fancy word for food for the probiotics. Pectin is a good one and easy to come by. Granny Smith apples are loaded with it, its in that super tart green skin. I take an apple a week, send it for a spin in the blender, and put it into my birds' fermenting feed along with yogurt and daily raw garlic. It helps quite a lot.

Oh Lacy, what a great idea. I had no idea that I needed anything but fermented feed. Just the apple in it , right?

Southland Organics has a product called litter life. It helps keep manure smell down but also has been shown to lessen e-coli and etc. I started using it last winter and this year I have had not cocci at my place.

It might be a coincidence - I have not found any studies that said cocci was reduced by litter life but it does help with smell.
