But seriously, I am not sure Alaskan knows for sure........

I couldn't agree more Wisher. I stopped visiting any "pure breed" thread because of some poster's attitude about their "prized" chickens. While I highly respect people working on breed standards and teaching others about those standards, people looking down their "noses" at other people's chickens because they are from a hatchery is silly. In the end, they are JUST CHICKENS!

My best layers are hatchery birds. The birds with the most issues I have came from breeder stock. I am not saying breeders are bad either, just saying sometimes diversity helps the gene pool. OK nuff said on that matter.

Oh, I'm with you on this one. I have gone to the pure breed threads wanting simple info on..how often do they lay? Does this breed go broody? Well, I honestly don't think they knew. Or didn't want to answer. They just talk genetics. It would be nice to go to a thread of a particular breed and ask questions like that and get an answer. You would think that is what the thread is for. :/

I started a show Australorp thread to get them off of the regular australorp thread. BYC set up a new section to try to stop stuff like that.

The old Australorp thread is much nicer now and they do answer questions like broody and egg numbers now. No one is blasted for having a Hatchery lorp any more

You are looking for blue eggs?

Crested cream legbars
arkansas blues
aracauna

Hopefully next spring I will be able to help with Arkansas Blues.
I am intrigued by the Arkansas Blues. I recall reading a thread about them a while back. I also recall some on that thread having some *ahem* disagreements over various details. Yet another reason I gravitate toward the general discussion threads. How do the Arkansas Blues do in the heat? What kind of temperament do they have? What is an average eggs size for them? Yes, I know, lots of questions....

Arkansas Blues are Araucana x Leghorn. They are Blue Genetics and lay blue eggs, lots of them.

The eggs are large to Xlarge and they are small chickens.

They do very well in the heat. Today I posted the Almanac for today which shows how hot it can get here. Marans and Orpingtons die each summer in the heat here.

They are ok for temperament, not as crazy as leghorns. They do not always like me but they do stand me. One of the cockerels stood still and let me pick him up yesterday. He did not like it but he only complained a bit....

The thread starter for the blue egg layers from the University of Arkansas did some bad things on that thread. The thread has been closed and there is a new low volume thread for them. It is much more friendly and so far the problem posting person from the other thread has not found it.

I hope that person is not on BYC anymore.

@caj1985 has the parent flock of my Arkansas Blues.
