The Old Folks Home

This is so funny and climate summit related:

Speaking of Wal-Mart. I know we weren't but I wanted to share.

A friend was looking to buy a movie in an emergency for another friend's birthday.
After checking a few local video stores, they recommended Target or Walmart I looked up the phone numbers.
The closest walmart, which had enticed me to enter once when I was looking online for a security cable for my daughter's laptop when she went to college since theirs was the lowest price. Never again.
While looking up the phone number today I stumbled onto the reviews of the store. I have to agree with every one.
Here are a few of the store closest to my house -

"This by far is the worst county Walmart ever....the lines are always very long including the customer service lines...forget about it at the beginning of the month...pack a lunch. I would rather gouge my eyes out then deal with the crappy service there."

"So apparently they just allow the customers to shoot their guns indoors? Or is tonight special?"

"The worst Walmart in St. Louis, terrible customer service and they barely have an inventory besides groceries."

"Of all the Wal-Marts in St. Louis this is the slowest. And it's not the people - it's the cashiers. The cashiers move like snails with no hurry. There are never enough lanes open. Whose fault is it - the store manager. The slow nature of this place is due to the poor store management who doesn't have a clue of how to train employees and no clue of how to hire motivated hard working employees. Absolutely terrible store managers! !"

Here's one of the only 5 star reviews.
"Why complain about the service or anything else. Of course this place is ghetto its adjacent to Dellwood and its Walmart. Where do low class people shop? Walmart. Hey at least their Night Crawlers are always fresh. "

"I would rather drive to Texas"

"I have shopped at Walmart for years and never have I seen such horrible conditions as this one. I will only go to this Walmart when I desperately need something that I cannot find somewhere else. The aisles are way over-crowded, the parkinglot is a hot mess and the staff are rude. I don't know HOW this store at this location has continued to do business as long as it has without some major rennovations. This Walmart puts their smiley face logo to shame. Shame on you Walmart! Get your act together!"

These are some of the milder ones.

I have noticed a decline in how Walmart operates overall. They were the first to be able to use the RFID type supply systems and yet these days often the shelves are not stocked properly. I used to blame this on when DH and I go shopping. Usually it is early Sunday morning so poorly stocked shelves with boxes of stuff to be stocked on the shelves blocking the aisle seemed to be a common thing. Recently I started shopping on Saturdays when I am planning on a hike on Sunday. It doesn't seem to matter what time of day you shop, there is at least one aisle that is a mess of restocking boxes. Why is major restocking going on in the middle of the day? Also, I HATE buying produce (especially fruit) there. They seem to buy a ton of a fruit that is ripe and this is how it goes. First week, full price. Second week (real close to turning) reduced price. Third and final week (moldy) it is only a $1 a pound. I don't know how many times I have been completely disgusted by the moldy fruit or veggies you find there. The last complaint I have is they seem to know what people like and stop stocking it. I can't even think of how many items we cannot purchase there because they no longer stock them. DH and I joke any time we like something we better buy a bunch of it because next week we won't be able to find it in the store anymore.

I couldn't imagine being without a dog anymore. Or just having one dog for that matter. Except during the night. Then I could do with a bit fewer dogs in the bed. We have a six foot wide bed, and somehow two small labradors and a little dachshund manage to take up about 4 feet of it, leaving me and Karin squeezed in between them.

My mom raised poodles. She just had one female named Babbette. But in the 60s she would get fifty bucks per puppy. My first dog that was my own was named Foxy. He was a standard Dachshund cross so his legs were only a little bit longer than they should have been.

somewhere I have a story about all the things my dogs have taught me.. seeing the world through a dogs eyes... Rosie was no exception.... She was a Dog for the dog.... I had a Greyhound at the time and I was noticing he was getting a little Old timer ish.... So My son and I went to the pound to find a companion for my Greyhound..... Dean needed a dog more his size any way. I have a story somewhere Just about her.

I have had some history with cats..... I like cats... but I am not a cat Cuddler. Its too dangerous for cats to live at my house any way.... So when I get back home I will probably have at least three dogs.... One for the livestock and to help protect.... One for vermin control... and ONe to be the Ringleader.... LOL. Of course I will be pack leader... It would take three to handle the job that Rosie did... And you must know... dogs need a job or they get in trouble...

Yeah, the labs are hunting tools. The dachshund also has a very important job, she takes up space in the couch, or in bed, and also conveniently handles leftover food. Sometimes before it is leftovers even. She also does a good job of getting rid of silence, especially when you're on the phone, or when a neighbor is at the door and wants to talk to you. Very talented dog.
