The Old Folks Home

yep......that is the problem with slaughter in the winter....do you do it outside, fast enough so that your fingers don't freeze solid?  Or.....do you bring it in the house??????  :barnie

Out side freezing...DH doesn't even want the FF in the house much less me processing a duck...
I never wear gloves Vehve, make me clumsy, but I think I will be warming my hands over the pot.... After dusk so the other birds don't catch on and the wee ones are in bed... Crap it's going to be cold.
DH says we will use the carport, good show! at least I'll have light, and some cover from the wind...

I think they started at age 8......

we also have a wall of little squirrel pelts.......

some people find it a bit odd when they come in and see our house... super messy, lots of guns, lots of bows, lots of fishing rods, and then squirrel pelts....no bear or moose, or deer.....

OK, OK, 3 is way too young to do the butchering for you.

But yep, my kids are homeschooled too..... and they have done the entire cycle, incubating, raising, caring, butchering, cooking, then eating.

However, my oldest is now 16, and the youngest is 6....so I have more helpful helpers than you...that is IF I can herd them in the correct direction..always a problem.

Yes herding kids is challenging at any age.... Perhaps I can train the dog. :D
