The Old Folks Home

Thanks.  I figured I would try this thread and converse with folks that remember life before internet when we still had verbal skills.  I have never been on Spacebook, My Face or Tweeter.  I have never selfied.  I'm still not sure what an Instantgram is.  This is pretty much it for my "social media" where I can share my interests with other chicken, duck, goose, turkey, guinea, donkey, horse, goat, pig, dog, cat owners.

It's good to see you again. I got behind on Yo Georgians and I haven't caight back up.

Why does snoop dog carry an umbrella? ....fo drizzle

Haha

Oh, and we also got Wilhelmiina's cremated remains back this week, so we buried her in a spot overlooking the sea. Then we had coffee and some chocolate cake, because they had celebrated her arrival with chocolate cake when she first came to Karin's family over 16 years ago.

Awe that's sweet. I had to get a friend to bring a mini excavator over to burry my big dog Demo... Closing in on two years in the spring.... Got him ( found him ) when I was 16. Sweet furry orange mutt.

It's just rock with a 2 inch layer of moss here, so burying her here in a proper grave wouldn't have been an option. Cremation is pretty handy, we made a little hole under the moss, left her remains in it and laid some rocks and a cross on top of it.

We got our first turkeys processed this morning and we will get to eat our first home grown turkey! We are very excited! One was a BBB and the other was a BBW the white what about 2-3 pound larger than the bronze.

Kudzu also has very pretty blooms that smell really good, too. My wife and daughter make Kudzu jelly with the blooms. And God knows there's PLENTY of that stuff around here.... mostly because livestock won't touch it. Not even the goats.

The spouse is gone, and no one has fed me properly.

Doesn't that just suck? Mine started making me enough meals to get me through until she returns. Then the neighbor's wife comes over and heats them up for me.

Hey @Alaskan Here is a round about way of describing this person.... Being from the Homer area you might understand. MY Dads Sisters Daughter.... or my Cousin Linda lived in Homer for several years. She learned how to do Scrimshaw on bone and made a very good living with it... She had about three or four horses up there....

She moved from there about six years ago and we lost track of her.... but she moved to Some place like Georgia.

did you ever know someone who made scrimshaw and had horses over the past ten years?

deb
Some place like Georgia? Really?

Quote: It won't take you 5 minutes to get caught up these days. There are times it'll go 8 or 10 hours without a post. 2 or 3 posts a day doesn't keep me sufficiently amused and entertained. I couldn't believe how many posts happened here last night. I think this may be my biggest multiquote ever.

Im having a pretty good weekend too. We usually eat at the dumpster behind applebees on friday nights because the garbage truck empties it friday mornings. When we arrived there was another family already dining there. We were late because my neighbor wouldnt go inside so i could siphon gas out of his tractor. There is a new buffet style restaraunt in town so we decided to dine behind it. We hit the jackpot there. I had 3 barely used chicken legs. My dw had part of 2 salads and some broccoli i think. My ds had part of a grilled cheese sandwich and half of an onion with ketchup. We washed it all down with water from their sprinkler. Then on the way home we spotted a recliner sitting beside the road. We knocked the roaches off and loaded it on top of the car. We didnt have any rope so i just held it tight. We made it home 1 recliner richer. This morning my neighbor put out 4 hamburger pattys for his dogs. The dogs got 1 but i got 3. Those weiner dogs bite pretty hard. Im almost positive we have enough gas to make it to the emergency room if the bleeding dont stop
