Holloween weather report====
Record snowfall last night in many towns, record cold tonight-low teens to single digits

Good news tho is the "urchins" are more likely to be throwing snowballs than eggs, much easier cleanup!

Goodness.... I'm away for 24 hours and there's close to 200 posts!

Where does one get oregano oil? I like the idea of it. At our house we do Source Naturals Wellness Formula daily and haven't been truly sick for years....but every little bit helps!

Deb...
LOL'ed about somebody dropping a kitten into the Trick-or-Treat bag. Genius! Might be a way to get rid of extra zucchini and eggplant, if they were in season. (Of course, it might also be a way to get a lot of zucchini and eggplant thrown at your house, too.)

TGIF = Tequila Goes In First. Yeah, potent stuff. My sister used to host a Cinqo de Mayo party that she could never attend the end of because she literally crawled up the stairs to sleep it off. One year the police showed up three times as the more tequila that's consumed the louder the volume gets. Ahhh, but good sipping tequila... I'm there with you on that one. Mescal, too. There's rocket fuel and smooth sippers.

Happy Halloween to all! Hope it's spooktacular! We're going trick-or-treating with the grandkids 5 and 3, respectively. The 3 y.o. is nearly as tall as the 5 y.o....she's got a future in women's sports, for sure. Bruiser of a kid, too. This year they're a unicorn and Minnie Mouse.

Boo!!

Oooh Mescal.... I used to date a Mexican Fellow by the name of Frank Rodrigues.... I beilieve his family was from Oaxaca, originally but he grew up in Ohio.... His momma didnt speak English and my introduction to her was Sunday Brunch after they went to church. Nice large family Momma was the boss.... and in the middle of the table a teeny wine decanter with thimble sized cups ringing it. I was told that was after the meal.... And what a nice meal it was... Chicken Mole Poblano.... Home made tortillas to die for rice and Tea to drink.

When the dishes were cleared, I wasnt allowed to help because i was a guest, then the Mescal came out. The eldest brother pourd the glasses... OMG it tasted like a fire places smells and I could do no more than touch my tongue to it. Frank had to finish it for me....

Mole is a sauce made from Chiles and Chocolate it is NOT sweet by any means.

@vehve

I used to make riding Cloaks for myself...

Cloak patterns are simple but they take alot of material

Cloak patterns

Some of the ones above show hoods.... The patterns can be drawn on the fabric with chalk and a straight edge...

Have fun.

Deb, I was looking at those earlier, I'm thinking of maybe doing the Paenula design. I'll have to check what kind of fabric I've got first though. I have some british camo with a brown outside that might work, but I don't know how much I've got. And then there's some black fleece, but I don't know about the amount of that either. We'll see tomorrow.

Wisher, I can't tell you how much I feel your pain on the predator thing.
I had a great breeding program going with 8 disparate flocks and lost all but 1.
It set me back 4 years.
Some of what's going on sounds like a dog but it doesn't explain the small openings and I agree that it doesn't sound like a member of the weasel family.
I just caution people that are experiencing predators (or not yet) that the plethora of species and sheer numbers of vermin/predators that enters or resides on one's property is beyond belief. I've seen multiple coons, possums and coyotes in my small space on the same night.
If you catch a predator, be aware that there are many more where that one came from.

It may be time to check out the use of snares.

Green Eggs and Ham and Cat in the Hat were after my time.
SCG
I have the same experience. The Dick and Jane readers bored me to death. It was all I could do to sit and listen to kids read at a painfully slow pace.
At 3 and a half, I asked my mother to teach me to read and she did so with the encyclopedia Britannica.

How are people reacting to the non-symptomatic ebola nurse?

I tell people that say absolutely there are no predators in their area... I tell them If you have chickens they will come.... If they arent coming for the chickens they will follow the rodents and discover the chickens....

Oh I loved Dr Seuss....

I think this nurse is in it for the publiicity... and I dont believe she is really a nurse but a researcher for the CDC. I stop listening to the news when it comes on because I dont want to contribute to what she wants... publicity. Shes also lining up lawyers I bet she sues some how.... So I am not sympethetic to the non symptomatic nurse... yep I agree she is most likely not affected... but Dang there is that little niggling horror linking in there.... called What if.

Modern day Typhoid Mary....

I work in a hospital and administration is trying to be calm about everything, including the nurse. Regardless of the outcome, I personally feel this is a great exercise in emergency preparedness - whether it's flu, a terrorist attack or a natural disaster. We all drill but additional practice and review never hurt anyone. Who would have thought you'd need a permit to remove Ebola waste, anyway, like they found out in Texas?
That being said most of the people I know, myself included, can't figure out why either side can't deescalate and compromise. I'd be pretty pleased if the CDC told me I couldn't leave my house for 21 days and someone would bring me takeout every night. As long as I didn't run out of fabric...

@superchemicalgirl You ever make a cloak? You wouldn't happen to have a simple pattern ready? I don't know what kind of fabric I've got in storage, but we're supposed to go to a costume party tomorrow, and I thought I'd throw together something Robin Hoodish, I can take my longbow with me for a authentic feel.

Sorry. I've made kids capes before, without hoods of course, but no cloaks. I've had my eye on this cloak for a while now, but it isn't hooded.

I was thinking something slightly more elaborate, Alaskan. I'd like something with a hood. I just thought SCG might have made one, since she seems to play around with her sewing machine quite a lot.

Sorry I wasn't here in your time of need, vehve. I was actually upstairs finishing this table runner up (they look much better in person than in pictures):

I am almost done with them all, I've finished 3 so far and have a 4th to bind, hopefully tomorrow. I made two red and gold ones for my two moms and I'm actually surprised how much I like the red ones compared to the two blue that I've made. One of the blues will be for me, and I still need to figure out who is getting the other blue one. With these done and out of the way I have a quilt to hopefully finish (and if not, because I'm cutting it close, it will be gifted next year) and then I've got all my "made" Christmas gifts done.
