I have been wearing double masks. I do make them ff. He won't make the feed for the babies. That's my thing. So it's figure out how to feed them gluten-free or I just deal with being sick.
Procrastination has caught up with me. I'm surprised I lasted this long. I got chickens first week of June this year. It was a great run. But now my body is screaming at me that it cannot take any more gluten bombing. Where I was holding Reginald yesterday, I have a rash up and down my arms from the feed dust on his feathers. So I have been spending less time with them, not b/c of the cold, but to get away from the gluten. No one is happy about this. My feather babies love petting and snuggles. Yes, I'm very mother hen doting mommy. My children are adults. These are my BABIES!![]()
You are having a rough time @Double Kindness
You have mentioned you have Celiac disease in the past but your symptoms are not congruent with celiac disease. The symptoms you posted when handling chickens and their feedare more likely a wheat allergy.
Celiac disease occurs in the small bowel
The main complaints are of bloating and voluminous maloderous diarhea. Secondary are associated with malabsorbtion.
Vomiting is not usually a symptom of Celiac disease as its a disease that damages the mucosa of the small intestine and thus too far down the digestive tract.
Most people with celiac are skinny due to malabsorbtion.
Skin contact with wheat will not cause symptoms.
Wheat allergy is associated with uticaria (rash) and vomiting.
Either way -back yard chickens are supposed to enhance quality of life - not diminish it. It sounds like you better get the allergens out of your feed
