LEDs are awesome

They are readily available in Asia. Prices in the last 6 months have dropped to 1.3x the proce of CFL and they last 3x longer.

they are available in 3,5,7,9,11and 13 watts.They are now $3-6 bucks each. The light output is around 9x that of incandescant.

here is a little example of the advantages

Glad you're out of the woods or, more precisely, in the woods out in the boonies. I remember growing up we never locked the front door. Wouldn't dream of leaving it unlocked now.
I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around what's happening out there. I mean, just because you're disappointed (in the verdict) doesn't excuse bad behavior. Heck, every two-year-old toddler learns that that sort of acting out means a big timeout. Saw on the news, actually, where families (with toddlers!) were turning out to watch the riots. Really??

It frustrates me to no end because if the shoes were on the other foot (i.e., swap the races around) I don't believe there would be any rioting. Heck, I think O.J. Simpson in comparison almost got a parade for his verdict, even though nearly everyone by this time is pretty convinced he got away with murder. Did it seem just and fair? No! But folks witnessing the Great American Judicial Travesty didn't go burn down Home Depot and things vital in our community to express disappointment. What validates or justifies that kind of behavior??

Okay. I apologize for my rant and to those it may have offended. I've got a pretty high IQ, but sometimes I just don't get the human equation.

I do want to add the the local cost here for LED is between $10 and $20. Depending on the type of socket, brightness. And there is one other thing that marketing claims haven't made too widely known, is that the actual lumen output is not actually the same comparable brightness. Incandescent lumens (light) goes out further in their space than does CFLs and LEDs. And CFLs reach further than LEDs. Thus giving the different ambience to a room.

People as individuals seem rational and sane but groups just get crazy... And I don't understand why, maybe mob mentality isn't something that is easily grasped by the coherent mind. It's a better reason to riot than a sports event though, if there such a thing as a better reason to riot... I'm still rather appalled that there was rioting in Vancouver over the Canucks losing the Stanley Cup... Pathetic...

I just noticed that on the box the other day the lumens are lower says so right there...
