The Old Folks Home

Here is a pic of our 40 lb. turkey we had for dinner yesterday.

It took 9 hours to get it cooked in the smoker and the legs kept stopping the turning rack in the smoker.

This was our home grown turkey the first one we had cooked for us.

IMHO it isn't the Christmas season until "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" hits the airwaves. The songs are short and easy to sing and who doesn't get choked up at the Clarisse/Rudolph interactions? (Except, of course, all you deer hunters....)

re: marriage
Besides love, maybe the criteria should be marry someone you wouldn't mind giving half your stuff to...all the good stuff.

Yum on the smoked bird!

A little boy sat on a park bench eating 1 candy bar after another. A guy sat down and noticed the little boy eating them. He said "young man. Its unhealthy to eat candy bars like that."..The little boy replied, "my grandpa lived to be109 yrs old". The older guy asked, "did he eat candy bars like u do?" The little boy replied " no but he minded his own business"

Our little 8-lb bird made for a hearty meal and then was picked apart for 18 turkey tamales (filling is turkey, roasted green chiles, chipotle powder, jack cheese.) The remaining carcass will be soup tomorrow!
Had my favorite breakfast of pumpkin pie and coffee. Life is good!

(Tamales before hitting the steamer)
