It's so warm down here that I think I will make a strawbale cold frame in January and if I know it's really gonna get cold, pile quilts on it and a tarp. Really cold down here is 15 for a day a 2. Mostly in the winter it stays high 40's daytime and mid 30's at night. But who knows, it's going to be a bad winter from what I hear.

It finally got cold here, but still in the 40's. So not like Dec. We are getting below freezing though at night. No heat yet for my girls. Will wait until it gets down into the teens. You are lucky for those 40's through the winter. That would be nice here, and as we always say around here, if most of the snow would just fall on the top of the mountains, and we get rain, that would be good..but it really would be strange not to have any snow in the winter in the valleys..only a small amount of snow has fallen in the valleys so far. Wondering if we will have a white Christmas, Starting to look like .. no.

Jem, I've seen so many baby animals in my life that I'm not overly excited. I like grown animals better. A chicken that lays eggs is much more useful than a little chick. Plus it's hardier.

I'm with you on that... But they are cute as babies... All creatures are, but far easier and more useful grown

I can understand that, so have I but since my mother passed away last year I have just I dunno anything living and brings to mind life, be it plants animals where I have been drawn to I dunno right now it seems to be something that brings me comfort

im pretty sure its from my super high humidity at lickdown.

I have never had an egg zip more than an inch. Ive watched several that pip and then "incredible hulk" out of the shell within a few minutes

thats how my guineas did it..... OMG... Sproing then the flippin and floppin all over the incubator..... Hatched three out of four pullet eggsies.
