The Old Folks Home

Wouldn't be Christmas without booze at a lot of houses...

Lol edited for a funny typo

LOL.... i get em by email before editing often times..... hee hee.

Shhh dont tell the grandmas I bought my son A BevMo card.... HUGE store here for adult beverages... I am the corrupter in this family.... I geve it to him already... Of course will benefit some from it... Hee hee.

One thing we want to give a try, is Absenthe... Bevmo has small sample bottles about eight ounces.... Probably more than enough...

And if this were my house I would be giving homemade limoncello try., That and homemade Kalua.... and Apple pie moonshine....

All are either Vodka based or everclear.... as in moonshine. Especially the Limonchelllo takes a month to first steep the lemon peels in the vodka.... then the peels get strained out and Simple syrup gets added then it sets for another week or so to blend..... Sounds yummy.

Limoncello:

Kalua....

Iiquers can be made in any flavor pretty much. from all sorts of fruits

It would be a good way to use extra fruits like peaches and apricots oranges etc.....

Happy Monday, y'all.

I'm looking forward to a nice, quiet week. Lots of people off at work and BF is working the late shift. Plus I got water in my ears on Saturday and the right one's still clogged.

For those of you that celebrate Christmas, are you ready?

I made the neighbor 2 bibs for her twin boys and 2 loaves of bread yesterday. After shlepping over there, turns out she's not home this week. I also made myself the regular 2 loaves of bread that I make each week... pretty sure I can't consume 4 loaves this week. Any ideas on what to do with them short of giving them away? One's italian with garlic and herbs, the other is sweet white bread.

I like slicing fresh bread and freezing it. Just pop a slice in a toaster when you're ready to eat it, and you're good to go. Bread usually starts getting a bit iffy after a month or two in the freezer.

SCG vehve has a good idea. Too funny that the neighbor wasn't home after all your worrying that you were gonna have to see her. ;)
Got this fairly simple quilted tree done yesterday

and some really cute bibs inspired by a drawing SCG found

I like the bibs, nice elk (or moose).

The tree reminds me of a ginger bread tree I once made for Christmas. I made gingerbread stars in descending size, and glued them to each other with molten sugar. Then I sprinkled some powdered sugar to look like snow. It turned out really pretty.

I also know those clowns you talk about, Bunny. I think a company called Brio makes something similar to that. It's a Swedish toy manufacturer, mostly known for their children's train sets. They also make a lot of other cool toys mostly out of wood.

Between computer issues and tons of other things going on, I'm almost 150 posts behind and don't know what I've missed but I'll catch up sometime.
I'm looking for people with recent experience shipping adult LF chickens. I need to ship a trio to GA. The only threads I've found on BYC are from 2008.
I've found shipping boxes for trios from Horizon but they're $150 for 3 boxes (minimum order).
I also found some from FeatherEx on Ebay that are way cheaper.
Not sure why the difference in price other than quality but both are supposedly approved by USPS.

Any input is greatly appreciated.
