on the rare chances when you might not have done it your evil twin did it........... it all makes sense now.....

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. Ours was very quiet, just the two of us. Nice in some ways because you can hang out in your PJ's as long as you want, eat when you want and open presents when you want but kinda boring too. I actually miss the days when we had a bunch of kids opening gifts and the noise and the mess. A nice quiet, neat Christmas seems ho-hum.

DH did awesome with the sewing station

This was just after he finished it. I have filled it up with my stash of fabrics. It is HUGE and so handy. I got some hooks to hang my plastic templates on the side of the cabinet. His other present to me (the aforementioned "best present ever") is two tickets to see Kenny Wayne Shepard in Vegas in February. I would argue that the sewing station is better than the tickets only because he made it for me, but the concert will be great. We both love Kenny's music and went to see him last time he played in SLC. The problem with that concert was that it was an outdoor venue and a thunderstorm came up so they had to cut it short. This concert will be inside at one of the casinos so we will get to see the whole thing this time. It will also be nice to get out of the super cold temps we probably will be having that time of year for a couple of days.

That's it. I am officially jealous. That sewing station is awesome!

But can you really stash all of your fabric in it? In that case, i gotcha beat - don't you know, "she who dies with the most fabric wins?!"

Bunnylady I am sure you have me beat in your stash but I am actually surprised at how fast mine is building. The front cabinets are kinda full already. The back cabinet only has a little so far. I did just order a box of awesome looking batik fat quarters that will help fill up the back cabinet.

Next I need to stop stockpiling and start using it.

I understand. My cat ate not one, but two plastic sewing machine covers before I finally made one out of fabric. She then ate the ties off the side of that one. I then made an impervious one, quilted.

...And then moved my sewing into a room with a door.

The last project I can remember completing was a few years ago. I made some blankets for my minis to wear in some Christmas parades. The parades are at night, so they had to be lighted. Here's Syd in hers:

I had more trouble with these things (not the least of which was photographing them!

) The red lights on this blanket were originally the ball-type LED's (perfect "berries"), but I apparently calculated the voltage wrong and they all burned out within the first hour. Sooooo, I had to re-wire it with regular mini lights (less persnickety). Syd has broken the switch off twice - I think I have that detail worked out. The green LE wire has proven to be the least problematic detail of the whole thing, though you can't kink it to a really tight angle or you risk breaking the connection.
