The Old Folks Home

Im partial to big dogs myself. I grew up with rotties and loved them. Now working with dogs every day bigger dogs are way less likely to bite than small dogs.
I grew up with Cockers and Pekes till I was 12 and got into Showmanship and got my first GSD. My aunt raised Chihuahuas. man those were mean little suckers. Haven't like them since I was a little girl and now California is the capitol of Chis. We even have to send rescues out of state there are so many. Pack of up to 50 run my neighborhood. Man are they a PITA! I've had so many people try to give me one and there's no way. Now 7 years ago I fell in love with my little Taz on a breeders site. Begged my husband to buy him for me and when my kids cane to visit they were worried about me. He was a 4pound Toy Poodle. I wish we would have found him. He took off from the people who were watching him when we were moving into this house. I didn't want him in the way or hurt. Then about a month after my husband died, the female he had got for me died. Truthfully if I could afford what I had before, I'd have Rotties again and I'd also have my Poodles. Bad thing about big dogs is you can carry them around just so long before your back goes out. LOL

At least one of the five flock eggs I put under Sparkle, my recently acquired house silkie, started peeping when I checked for pips. Tomorrow is Day 21. (No external pips yet.)

I am so excited!

It's not like it's my first broody or anything, but it IS the only one I've had right in the house... Plus, Sparkle is special.

Okay, everybody in the flock is special. Miss Sparkle is just specialer. :D

x 5000.

They really do drill into the dirt. I have duck drill marks all over the yard. It's like aeration for the yard. They play in their water all day long, splashing and splishing and mud making. While we have mud here frequently (and even have "mud season" [which comes right after winter, and before bug and tourist season]) even when it's dry, the ducks are a disgusting mess.

I couldn't understand why my water buckets were dirty all the time-- like a layer of silt covering the bottom!!! I have 6 ducks!!

While at puppy training, a woman was having trouble with her little lap dog, a white terrier type, and the dog was growling when husband got on the bed. Trainer was very concerned and immediately was talking with the woman about all the steps to take to put this dog back in her place. The very next week, she was playing with the dog during a few minutes of free time, had the dog on her back and put her face into the dogs face. Guess what the dog did? Yup, bit her lip!

Quote: LOL I was always too busy to carry them for long!! My girl was small about 60 pounds, maybe a bit more. and her two boys were just a bit bigger. OVerall very small for a Rottie. I liked their size. The older I get the smaller the dog. 50# feels heavy enough these days. Angel is about 75# rock solid!!
