stow away on an ice breakerHa! I would drown for sure. I can't even put my head underwater long enough for a lap in the pool. My lung capacity stinks.

I knew that, it just looked comfier than that to which I'm accustomed.@vehve i spotted that on my domestic flight just before landing so i could not read it
@ChickenCanoe not economy - I used 90,000 frequent flier miles for the round trip ticket
Sounds great. The only Nordic country I've been to is Denmark. I imagine Finland is a bit different. I want to go to Iceland too.CC, then I'll continueAt Market Square, you should try a lihapiirakka (minced meat and rice baked into a lightly deep fried crust) or a munkkipossu (sort of like a donut filled with jam). You can get them at the orange tents that are usually set up there. Most of the stuff they sell there is pretty touristy though. In fall, there's a week long sort of a festival there, the herring market. Black bread and different herring products are sold then. Fishermen from all over the Finnish archipelago gather to feature their products.![]()
Close by to the south (300 meters) is the site where the Guggenheim museum will be built, if it gets built. And 300 meters to the east you can find the Uspenski cathedral, a Orthodox church, probably the prettiest religious building in Finland. The Esplanade begins from Market Square as well, it's a pretty park area. There you can find the Havis Amanda fountain. And 100 meters underneath the park there's a huge manmade lake that will be taken into use next spring. It will be used to cool down buildings in the summer, sort of a reverse system to the remote heat that msot of the buildings in Helsinki are heated with (coolant water from the various power plants in the area). Really cool systems, if you're into engineering. Move one street north from the Esplanade, and you'll be on Alexander street, the best shopping street in Helsinki.
11 million to 1 chance of dying in a plane crash.I might have to break my fear of flying,I wanna go to Finland!![]()

Practice makes perfect.Ha! I would drown for sure. I can't even put my head underwater long enough for a lap in the pool. My lung capacity stinks.
So the name was off color?I agree. Must have been something I missed or something they took down. They took one of my posts down and gave me a infraction for that night for posting a pic of a bottle of Tim Smith's (from tv show)moonshine I was finishing off. I guess they didn't like the name on the bottle (the name of the town he lives in) and I'm not repeating the name.
cc, i know the odds, my brain just won't listen. It's the takeoffs and landings that freak me out.I knew that, it just looked comfier than that to which I'm accustomed.

your chances of surviving your next flight: 99.9999815%.
You're twice as likely to be boiled to death than death by plane.
3 times more likely to die of food poisoning.

Rear seats give the strongest structural support. Seats over wings are the most comfortable.
While I'm on the topic of statistics, my son was riding with me after he dropped his car off for repairs.
We were talking about selling some chickens. He asked if chickens are hatched with a 50/50 chance of being pullets and cockerels. I said yes. He did a little math in his head and told me there's a 1 in 5,000 chance that a dozen incubated eggs will be all pullets or all cockerels.
He's in college for actuarial science.
So the name was off color?
Sadly,i have the lungs of a 70 yr old, have since i was a kidPractice makes perfect.
I love the takeoffs, scared of landings, turbulence in bad storms is what really freaks me out. I've had 2 really bad flights and some so-so. One was a huge storm over St. L and after circling for over an hour, we had to divert to KC before we ran out of fuel, then there were a couple malfunctions on the way to KC, including a cabin pressure issue and a landing gear problem.cc, i know the odds, my brain just won't listen. It's the takeoffs and landings that freak me out.silly brain of mine![]()
i could spend hours (maybe years) in my head and not come up with a probability answer like your son did.
My kids developed what they called exercise induced asthma while on swimming teams and had to quit.Sadly,i have the lungs of a 70 yr old, have since i was a kidbeen trying to improve for years now asthma has come back with a vengeance. Was symptom free for my late 20's thru early 40's.![]()
