The Old Folks Home

Tap dancing is done with the toe as part of the step... Very rarely will cloggers use their toe except to swipe on the floor or as a second sound after the heal comes down. Timing is kept in the heel.... and when you get really floaty you start shuffling.... so your feet are never static but almost always flat to the floor. in comparison to tap.

Irish Dancing and Flat footing or clogging are very very similar. though the Irish keep their hands and shoulders static. Even so Clogging or Flatfooting the hands will be down low and usually not used for anything but balance....

Here are some performers that illustrate this:

It doesnt matter the steps its all fun and very fun to watch....

Oh, Deb, I loved that. I like the Irish dancing but the girls on the left were have soooo much more fun. I think of the two I'd love the do it. Back in the day, of course.

I think you and I are from the same generation.... sixties and seventies..... I love all that music... the louder the better.... But I also loved the balads Gordon Light foot Somothers brothers....and a few others I dont remember any more.... it was the sixties.... were not supposed to remember most of it....

But I had a friend whos brother was in a Country and Western band.... and they were good. So good they packed up and made a go of it in Nashville.... They lasted a full on year till the band broke up and went their separate ways.... on fellow Jim went on to work for Shelly West and did the cruise ship rout....

My friends were just country and western people but I became fascinated by Bluegrass, And Zidego... and spotted people who were dancing to it.

I remember one time I took out a whole row of dancers when I slipped and fell and hit the person in front of and they fell and hit the one in front of them..... and on and on.... WE all got up laughing... and caught up with the rest.

That was the appeal... for me... I didnt have to be 'cool' or the "best" the only rquirement was to have fun.

I couldnt dance to rock an roll now without throwing a double step in there.

DOnt get me wrong I love Metallica and Red hot Chile peppers and heavy metal and grunge metal and Muse and what ever is out there and considered good music.

I also love Jass and new age and Celtic and indian drum music... I love it all.

I was still into heavy metal twenty years ago and my new SIL Jack introduced me to Yanni and Enya. Wow, page turner. Yanni came to Bossier City a few years ago and I made the effort to get there. NOT a disappointment. He was great. and the only other big outing was when the Riverdance came to town. It was all I could do to not get up on the stage with them..

I probably would have broken a hip.

6 pm and and a balmy -20 F already, sigh. Another -45, but hopefully not worse, windchill night. All the schools closed again tomorrow. They at least have the intelligence to not run the buses into the boondocks on the backroads at 6:30 in the morning when it's stupid cold out. Kids aren't even enjoying the extra days off because it's too cold to get outside and away from chores

SCG - sorry we are sending all this wonderful weather your way. No body here is in lockdown, at least in the middle of the day, because, dispite the wind, we have been getting enough sun to at least warm up the greenhouse so everybody's been hanging out sunbathing in there. Rest of the week, not so much as we have snow moving back in tomorrow.

Amber - are you in any of that mudslide mess??? That is just horrible.

I wish I could feed FF here and did for a while. The girls loved it but I gave up. There is just now way for me to keep it cookin' or to keep it from freezing more than 3 months a year.

Perchie - yes, I love those recycled rubber tubs. Just about completely indestructible! I kick the ice out of em at 20 below and they just bounce. I use a big one for my fountain in the summertime and have a handled bucket made of the stuff that is at least 30 yrs old and still just fine.
Boy, sounds like we have an awful lot in common, at least in our younger years as well as a strong love of horses. I could see us sittin' in the shade sipping our coffees and bopping around in our wheelies together.

Hi Idiotswife

I swear I'm going to be in the nursing home blasting metal and goth.

Candled the Brinsea today... 50% rate of development that I can tell this early - same as the LG. So far, so good. The LG has been rock solid today. I've got a hi/lo in there and it was 98.9 to 99.4 today while I was at work. Can't beat that, almost as solid as the Brinsea. And with the two water bottles in there it's recovering temp really quickly.

You know I learned to Swing before I tried jitterbug..... and never could figure it out... till someone explained to me that you just step like you are putting out a cigarette. I love swing dancing but never could find a jitterbug partner...

My most favorite dance is the Waltz ESPECIALLY with a good leader.... my heart goes pitter patter every time....

I need to get out of this walker and moving again.... I hate it.

Yeah, the dancing days are behind me. Most of other things too. I can remember when Shreveport got this great local Saturday dance show like "American Bandstand" Early '60's I think I was 15 or so and went to be on "Television". It was s o backward that not all couples were mixed. I personally danced with my SISTER. Bwahahahaha. Got a lot of compliments from the relatives. Thought I was a star.......snicker

Shall I admit that in the mid 60's me and a girlfriend lied about our ages when we were 15 and got summer jobs at the Walled Lake Amusement Park Dance Pavillion on Saturday nights working up on platforms as GoGo dancers???
