The Old Folks Home

That chick is a needy little thing. It is pretty weak - I had to deshell it at the end of hatch. Going into the brooder with a gang of healthy, 2 day older chicks zooming around was a recipe for disaster. All it wanted to do was sleep. And all that it was getting was a few seconds of sleep prior to being run over. It was brooder roadkill. It kept peeping. Loud, obnoxious peeping. It quiets right down when you pick it up and hold it, and it just sleeps.

It finally started drinking last night. I put sugar in the water, so it is getting some calories. Hopefully it will start to get stronger. This momma has to go to work today, so it can't be held.

I put them in a cup, just off to the side of the heat source when they are like that..with a paper towel in it covering the sides so the others can't see it. Then I give it electrolytes every once in a while, until it gets stronger..your sugar water will work great too. It just has to get past that sleepy stage after being helped out.

You got that right

Yup.... Some people are just ridiculous.

I was going to buy 15 hens from a woman, she wanted to get rid of the whole flock which was something like 25. I only wanted 15... We made arrangements for me to go pick up the birds and then she just decided to stop answering my phone calls... I assume she found someone to take them all... It would have been nice of her tell me she had changed her mind, and it would have been appropriate to call me. People are silly, and sadly immature sometimes...
CC good luck

CC yes definitely draw up a contract and have the buyer sign it before doing anything and I would have an at least 75% non-refundable down payment prior to doing any preparation work either. I would check the laws but from what I understand an electronic signature is as legally binding as a written signature so you can do all of this by email. I would explain this to potential buyers as well so that they understand up front what they are getting into and that the contract will be binding even if they didn't hand sign it. I still think this is a buyer who got cold feet and the contract and your price should weed out anyone who is "iffy" on their commitment to the transaction.

Cc: I would tell him if he wants a refund "COME GET IT"!

. . . . and manage to not be there when he gets there . . . ."oh, I waited, but you didn't show up within 5 minutes of calling from Georgia, so I went on with my previous plans, sorry."

I am not usually vindictive, but this sale situation is ridiculous.

Do it!
